Ryans Odd Encounter Sr Autumn
Ryan, a diligent member of a secret society, responds to an emergency call from a young man under attack in Rosie's Diner. Upon arrival, he discovers a scene of chaos where the victim is fending off three people possessed by some demonic influence—an effect seemingly spreading across the town. After contacting local authorities and ordering them to handle the situation in Rosie's, Ryan exits the diner to confront the true source of the disturbance. With the help of David, a muscular and quick-to-action deputy, Ryan arrives at a hotel rife with more of the possessed, indicating a strong demonic presence.
As they fought their way through the hotel, Ryan and David reached the roof only to encounter Clyde, a suave yet menacing demon responsible for the pandemonium. Ignoring Clyde’s taunts and threats of inevitable doom, Ryan briefly engaged in banter before resorting to using salt—a traditional demonic repellent—and his knowledge of arcane rituals. Despite the assault, including a clever “Pocket Salt” attack and a physical beatdown with a broomstick, Clyde revealed his true hellish power by taking control of Deputy David, turning him against Ryan. At this critical juncture, Stacy, a librarian within the society, provides crucial intel over the comms, confirming that Clyde can be banished but is impervious to death. The story concludes with Clyde's retreat and his sinister manipulation of David turning into a new threat for Ryan to counter.

In A Large, Well Appointed Bedroom
Easily one of the largest rooms in the apartment, this master bedroom has been decked out in all the comforts one could need. On the eastern wall is a king-sized bed piled high with a mix of white and silver bedding. Decorative throw pillows are heaped high against the dark oak headboard and a wispy, sheer set of curtains hangs from the four poster canopy bed's top rails. At the foot of the bed and facing the western wall is a two person love seat. The floors, most of which are covered by a mix of blue and silver rugs, are grey stained oak. There's a conspicuous lack of natural light here, a section of the wall that formerly overlooked the street now bricked up entirely. Finishing out the area is a fireplace that dominates most of the north side of the room. A pair of chairs, high backed and silver-upholstered, face that focal point.
It is noon, about 23F(-5C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.
(A rogue demon has been causing havoc around Haven, using its infernal powers to manipulate the minds of the townsfolk and sow discord. The characters must uncover the demon's true identity, find its weakness, and banish it back to the underworld before the town tears itself apart.)
Doing his morning checks, Ryan sits at the computer in his bedroom going over intel for his Society, checking digital records, cutting out old newspaper clippings, filing them away in a file folder as he starts his day. He checks an app on his phone, pairing it with his hidden earpiece as he tests it to make sure his society comms are working.
The comms seems to work for Ryan as a double beep can be heard followed by a voice. "U-umm help! I've been attacked by two people," the voice sounds like one of a young man, except that it's frantic with panting. "One moment they were friendly, the next they lost their shit for no reason. The fuck is wrong with them?"
Getting up quickly and grabbing his messenger bag, Ryan tears for the door as he puts his hand up to his earpiece, "Hey, Ryan here. Who is this and where are you? I'm on my way." he runs through his apartment, down the stairwell, and jumps into his van, starting it up and asking, "I'm out on Main, are you downtown or uptown?"
"D-Downtown at Rosie's Diner," the voice replies. Then there are sounds of crashing followed by a scream from the voice. "Oh shit, now another one is jumping me! Help!"
Racing up the street, Ryan turns the corner by the Haven Courier and is right there at Rosie's Diner. Jumping out, he makes for the door, checking around as he looks for the commotion, "Hey!"
Yelling out as he enters the door, Ryan tries to get the attention of whatever is happening, hopefully to distract it from the accosted.
What awaits Ryan is a chaotic scene: The whole diner is in shambles with tables and chairs toppled over on the floor. The waitresses are taking cover behind the counter, with a few heads poking out to get a peek of the ongoing situation. And at the center of the it all is a young red-haired man, his blue eyes full of fear and panic as he holds a chair to defend himself against three people. Two older men and one woman, and if Ryan takes a closer look on the poor redhead's assailants, he might catch a glimpse of a strange look on their eyes.
Shaking his head, Ryan swipes a ketchup bottle from a table and yeets it at the trio, yelling, "Hey, assholes! Not the place or time." he taps into the local HSD band and makes a call, "Hey 911? I've got three people down at Rosie's making a ruckus, if you could send someone that would be fine, and send the 'Special Deputies'."
"This is 911, the deputies will be right there soon," a gruffy voice replies on the HSD band. The trio pauses when the ketchup bottle distracts them from the redhead, and they turn to face Ryan with seething faces. But the woman steps on the bottle and she slips and falls to the floor. While police sirens herald the arrival of the Special Deputies, a new voice crackles to life on Ryan's comms. "Librarian Stacy there," his comms say in a light feminine alto. "I am detecting some demonic energy around here. And it's stronger around the hotel. Be careful as more people are likely to be hostile there."
Reaching up to touch his earpiece, Ryan nods, grabbing someone's empty plate off their table and winging it at the trio again just for good measure, "They'll probably only get arrested for drunk and disorderly or something." Ryan notes as he heads out the door again, waving to the Deputies as he says, "Hey, it's Ryan, I know Savannah. Couple of people in Rosie's, we think it's demon related, I've got an Order Librarian on the line telling me there's more in the Hotel if you want to send someone with me."
With one of the attacking man getting him with a plate to the face and the woman getting back up, the trio does not pursue Ryan as he leaves. The Deputies spot him and upon hearing his explanation, one of them, a muscled man with a black beard, nods his head. "Alright, we will detain the assailants," he says with a grimace before he hikes a thumb at a toned and tanned man next to him. "I'll have David here help you in case the hotel people get hostile and attack." An echoing laugh is then heard, most likely from the hotel.
Nodding to the man, Ryan motions to him, "David? Sound good. Let's hit it across the street and see what's going on." then he hears the cackling and he frowns, "Looks like we found the source."
David grimaces and turns to look at the hotel. "Yeah, and I think there's something up there inside," he points out towards a figure at the roof of the hotel. "I can get you access to it, Ryan." The other deputies turn to run inside the diner where the trio and the redhead are, and more crashing and yelling can be heard. "Let's hurry." He then moves to follow Ryan as he prepares himself.
Jogging over to the hotel, Ryan goes into the lobby, checking around to see the situation with David as he prepares himself, searching through his bag and making an inventory of what he has on hand, one hand in the bag as the other one reaches up to run his fingers through his shaggy blonde hair. "Yeah, let's get in there and figure it out, someone could seriously get hurt."
As they enter the hotel, one of the lobby managers charges at David and Ryan with a broom in hand, but David fends him off by pulling out a baton and parrying it before he pushes the broom man away. "To the stairs!" He calls out to Ryan. "Who knows how many more are around here?" He points at the stairway while the manager wildly swings his broom until the deputy knocks him out.
Backing up David, Ryan picks up the broom and uses it like a staff, nodding as he jogs over to the stairs, holding it out in front of him to fend off any attackers, "Looks like it's effecting the whole town. Probably more as we get closer to it." he searches in his messenger bag for a bag of salt, slipping it into his suit jacket pocket as he leads the way.
"Seems like it," David says to Ryan while they begin to head up the stairs. "It won't be long before the whole town turns into a colosseum." The laugh grows even louder as they get closer to the roof, and David grimaces before he adds, "Whoever's doing this must be a strong one." The door to the roof is near, and the deputy pauses and attempts to open the door. "Shit, it's locked," David grumbles, taking steps back and proceeding to bash the door open.
"On three!" Ryan says as he gets ready to bash the door open with David, "If both of us take a run at it, we'll definitely break it open." he readies himself as he limbers up a little, rolling his shoulders as he takes a deep breath, "1...2...3!" he says as he takes a run at the door next to the Deputy to attempt and bust it open with his shoulder.
The door gives way a bit, but with the combined strength of Ryan and someone, the door finally succumbs to the bash and swings open. On the roof is a tanned man dressed in a black suit looking down at the town and swaying his hands like a conductor. His face is trimmed with black sunglasses covering his eyes, and black hair is swept back on his head. He stops upon the bashing of the door and turns around to face the two men. "I see there are brave mortals of Earth who want to stop me," he speaks in a low crooning baritone. "The end is coming, so what's more fun than creating chaos here on this world?"

"Hey dude, I kind of like this world." Ryan claims as he upnods to the man, pulling out 'Arcane Rituals for Dummies, second edition' as he flips through the page, skipping over a post-it note labeled 'wet ghosts' in an incantation for the later part of the book on Demons, "Can we take a rain check on that world ending biz, my man? I've got some waves to catch this Summer and I don't want to miss them." skimming down the heading, Ryan peers at the book as he says to the man, "Now, you can go and fuck off quietly, or I can put some stank on it and totes banish you to the shadow realm like Yu-Gi-Oh."
The man in black lets out a low laugh at Ryan. "You think you can stop me?" he says, lifting his shades to reveal red eyes while he grins in a sinister way. "I got out of Hell so I can have my way around him. And I'm not going back to that realm."
David is bewildered by the man's eyes and moves beside the fellow. "Careful Ryan," he tells him quietly with caution. "This guy is dangerous."
Taking that moment to put his hand in his suit jacket pocket, Ryan reaches for a handful of the salt he slid in there earlier while coming up the stairs and yells, "Pocket Salt!" as he throws that handful of salt, at the demon's face, trying to blind the thing, now unprotected by those shades. "Go to Hell, demon, we're all full on weirdos in Haven."
"Ah shit!" The devil man seethes in pain, hands moving to his eyes in an attempt to rub them off. "Damn salt! I forgot how much it hurts!" David readies his baton while the demon is distracted. "Now, Ryan. Now's the chance to get rid of him!"
Already on the roof, Ryan charges the guy, broom in hand as he hits the man repeatedly, trying to force him off the roof or beat him down and looking to David, Ryan says, "We can beat him down or force him off the building, I don't know if he'll die, but I'd rather we take him into custody for questioning." he continues to harry the man with David as he moves to trip him up, sticking the broom between his legs and pulling.
David runs to help Ryan beat up the demon, but the demon still stands while he rubs the last of the salt off his eyes until the broom causes him to trip. Lifting his hand, he points at the deputy and snaps his fingers, causing David to pause and turn towards Ryan, ready to strike. "Get that boy," the man in black commands with with a seething look and takes a step back.
Ryan's comms begins to buzz. "I found information on the perpetrator," Stacy's voice is heard. "His name is Clyde and he escaped from Hell and to this town with the ability to control people. He cannot be killed but he can be banished back to Hell."
As they fought their way through the hotel, Ryan and David reached the roof only to encounter Clyde, a suave yet menacing demon responsible for the pandemonium.
