Seths Odd Encounter Sr Brock 241129

On a fateful night, under the cover of darkness and amidst a brewing storm, Seth finds himself thrust into a perilous situation that spirals out of control rapidly. It begins in a quaint, pastel-hued guest bedroom, but soon transitions to a chaotic escape involving Seth and an injured stranger—both jumping from a balcony in desperation. The stranger, a turncoat from the ominous Black Flame cult, suffers a grievous injury upon their ill-fated landing. Seth, bewildered and acting on instinct, commandeers a vehicle from an elderly lady amidst her protests, setting off a frantic chase through the city streets. With the injured man bleeding profusely and directing Seth to flee the city limits to outrun Black Flame cultists hot on their trail, the tension mounts as gunfire exchanges between them and their pursuers mark the beginning of a life-or-death escape.

As the pursuit intensifies, Seth struggles with the gravity of the situation—a lack of powers, the dire condition of his passenger, and the relentless assault from their chasers. Despite the odds, he refuses to lay down and accept defeat, reaching out to his faction for aid which leads them to a seemingly ordinary suburban safe house. However, the relief of evading their followers comes with a morose realization as Seth discovers the man who dragged him into this maelstrom of violence has succumbed to his injuries. The escape ends not with triumphant relief, but with the heavy weight of loss and the specter of conflict still looming large. Seth, now in the temporary safety of the safe house, is left to ponder the grim events that unfolded and the mysterious artefact that seemingly caused it all, while surrounded by members of the Hand who question the identity of the deceased turncoat, marking a sorrowful conclusion to a night of unexpected terror and alliance.

In a cozy guest bedroom painted in pastels

Awash in soft pastel hues, this guest bedroom is small, but comfortably-sized with all the essentials a guest may require during their stay. The walls are painted a delicate blush pink with accents of lavender, while a plush, pale blue rug covers the wooden floor. The queen-sized bed is set against the eastern wall and dressed in pastel-patterned linens with plentiful pillows available.

Little natural light pervades the room apart from the skylight in the roof; sunlight shines in during the day, centered where the vanity and the armchair rest in the western end of the room, though the place is well-lit by the soft golden glow of the chandelier otherwise. To the south is the entrance to the guest bathroom, a small mat placed before the doorway.

It is night, about 57F(13C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. There is a new moon.

Seth does make for the door at first, though he pauses there when he hears the banging against it. He takes a few staggering steps back, and is grabbed again by the stranger and steered towards the terrace, and the balcony overlooking the city. "Black Flame? Shit, shit" he mutters, looking out over the edge, "What the fuck were you thinking, waiting this lon- Jumped down? Why would I ever jump dow-" Seth's words are cut off as he's shoved. He barely has time for his eyes to widen and to let out a loud protesting yelp of surprise, before he's tumbling down and flailing through the air. He has just enough sense to try and cover his face and head before, with a crash, he collides with the bushes below, doing something to soften the fall and perhaps saving him from severe injury. He rolls out of the foliage and around on the floor, groaning with pain and clutching his arm, a "Fuuuck..." escapes him, and he tries to stagger to his feet, "What the fuck."

"-uuuuuck!" The cuss is continued by Seth's newest best buddy as they come tumbling down through the dark of the night as well. Though, they misjudge their trajectory somewhat, landing with a meaty, terrible sounding smack against the pavement beside the greenery. That's not good. Worse yet is the scream that bursts out of them as they clutch at their leg desperately, where bone spears through flesh and blood oozes, and sprays. "Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck! Oh fuck!" They blurt out, half in shock, eyes wide and slightly unfocused as they dart between their skewered leg and Seth, "Get a car, quick, I can't- We can run. Get a fucking car, bro! Go jack one!" He yells, and points desperately at the traffic rolling past on Elm.

Seth does, eventually, stumble to his feet, wide eyes darting around his dark surroundings as he searches for pursuers, before finally his gaze falls back on the stranger who fell beside him. He staggers over and gets down on his knees, mouth agape as he takes in the terrible, agonising looking wound, "Holy fucking shit man" he says, reaching his hands towards the leg for a moment, before retracting them, helpless to do anything to assist, truly, "Why the fuck would you jump?! From that high up?! Did you want to kill us both?! Oh shit, oh shit, this is bad, this is so bad." At the strangers command, he pushes up again and turns, searching the street for abandoned, or even occupied, vehicles. He finds one, eventually, a little old lady just getting out of a tiny electric vehicle. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'll bring it back, it's an emergency!" he exclaims to her as he shoves her out of the way and clambers inside, key still in the ignition, and drives it back to the wounded man. He opens the passenger side door and pulls him inside, no doubt getting blood all over the interior, before slamming the door closed, getting back in himself, and speeding off as far as the little car can carry them both, "Where the fuck are we going?"

"God damn Millenials!" The sweet old lady curses to the high heavens as Seth takes off with her very economical vehicle. Poor thing.

When the Black Flame turncoat is dragged into the vehicle he cries out in yet more pain, bleeding all over it as his leg sits at that terrible, terrible angle, "Oh my god, quick. Quick!" He screams, not quite giving directions so much as pointing forward before the crack of gunfire lights up the night. Three armed cultists have run out from the apartment, firing at Seth and his new bestie as they take off in the car - taking off a side mirror, and cracking the back window before they charge into their own gasoline guzzler of a vehicle and give chase.

"Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck," The Former Flame mutters as he tries to stem the bleeding, and grows more woozy with each passing moment, "Out of town, yeah? They have protection here, and I sure as hell don't. We can't let them get the head, bro." He hisses back to someone, pressing the button to lower the window and waiting as it slowly, slowly lowers. He peeks out then, exchanging gunfire with those in hot pursuit.

He peeks out then, exchanging gunfire with those in hot pursuit.

"Out of town? Shit, shit, right" Seth says, glancing from the road ahead, which he races through, well past the speed limit, occasionally back to the wounded fellow at his side, bleeding copiously out over the once clean passenger seat. "Put - put pressure on it or something!" he says, taking a moment to also glance down at the bag, slung hastily at the feet of his passenger, zipped up inside an artefact of unknown, but perhaps great worth. Then gunfire starts to ring out, pinging off the car and sailing overhead. He ducks his head a little and hunches his shoulders, trying to still see where he's going, "Oh fuck me!" he shouts over the deafening noise, zooming through the streets and roads and gradually getting closer to the edge of the developed area, "What the fuck do you want me to do then?! We need the rest of the Hand!"

"Just keep- Drive steady! And don't get us shot!" The passenger Princess gives two very conflicting orders right there and then, as another stray flash of gunfire shatters through what remains of the back window of the borrowed car, and smashes into the front window, sending skittering lines across the poor drivers view. "Then we-" The response to that last question there is interrupted as Seth's buddy leans out the window to fire back at those in pursuit - only for them to step on the gas and ram their bigger truck into the back of the smaller, more economic vehicle!

The injured man nearly falls out the window, just managing to catch himself and jerk back inside, "Fuck me sideways. Dude, use a power or something!"

Seth ducks again as he hears more gunfire, a bullet narrowly missing his head as it shoots through the windshield. He can feel the cold night air blowing on his face now, through the shattered holes left. He barely has time to steady himself from that scare when the truck tailing them crashes into their rear, and sends him jolting forward. "Oh FUCK!" he shouts, turning from nearly hitting the dashboard to see his passenger nearly falling out the window. He reaches over a hand to yank him back inside, before placing it back on the steering wheel, pumping the gas as hard as he can as he continues to race through the streets, trrying to do his best to lose the bigger vehicle by taking narrower roads that they might have more trouble with than their smaller car, "I don't have any fucking powers!" he answers, "I'm just a guy! Fuck! Why couldn't you have gone -anywhere- else! Then we what? What?!"

"You don't hav- What the fuck are you doing in the Hand?" The other man blurts out in alarm, "God damn it, where in the fuck are the Russians? They fucking sucked, but at least they could-" He's interrupted by yet more gunfire, and a splash of crimson bursts against the inside of the splintered, and shattered windscreen as a bullet catches him in the shoulder, "Fuuuuck," He hisses out, leaning forward against the dash and whimpering, "Just.. out of the city limits.. then they ain't got protection, and we can merc them- unless you think you can lose them?" He hisses over and aside to Seth, as the younger man does in fact make some good effort in slowing them down by taking those more narrow streets.

"I'm new, alright!" Seth shouts back to the man he still doesn't know the name of, eyes still on the road ahead of them. Then, that bullet finds its target, and warm blood speckles the side of his face as it bursts out from the passenger. His eyes widen and for a moment he freezes, turning for only a moment to find the man has, fortunately for him, only been shot in the shoulder, and not had his entire head explode. For a moment he seems about ready to ask him something born from concern, before the man makes his 'plan' known, "MERC THEM?!" Seth exclaims, "Are you fucking insane? Me and you, and you in your fucking state, take on a whole squad of these fucking people?! Ohh we're fucking mincemeat." As they drive, he does his best to try and lose their tail. Urgently, he speaks into a hidden device in his sleeve, his faction comms, "I need fucking backup... heading down, uh, shit, prospect street, Black Flame after me and an artefact." He can only hope someone will answer.

"There's only three-.." The bleeding man starts to respond argumentatively before he's forced to give into the wisdom of Seth's words with a hissed little nod, "Gods, Venice has fucked me, man. God damn Italians.." He mutters in further complaint, trying to step the bleeding and leaning more readily against the side of the door, blood loss having it's way with him. "We'll be fine, alright?"

As if to prove this, there's a response from Seth's call for assistance, and directions are fed to him for a safehouse nearby with an open garage, and a series of side-streets to lose those in pursuit before getting there. Which is lucky, because they're still catching up in the distance back there. "Just drive, bro, just drive." The turncoat mutters at Seth, falling still as he gives up on firing back for the time being.

"Two too fucking many for us to even stand a chance" Seth says as he floors it, trying to outrun the truck as best he can, "And, fucking, Russians, Italians, I don't know what you're talking about man!" Then that response comes over his comms, and he lets out a quiet exhale, the most relief he'll afford himself yet. He immediately begins to redirect towards the location he's been given, taking those side streets as fast as the tiny, now severely dinged up car can go, "You - you alright man?" he says to the stranger as his words begin to grow quieter and his body stiller. God knows how much blood he's lost at this point, from the two severe wounds he's gained. The interior of the vehicle is practically painted with it, and the stink or iron is heavy in the air, "Just hang in there, man, we're almost there."

And hang in there the man does, to his best ability. He slides this way and that as Seth guides the car down the side streets, moving along with the motions of the vehicle. It may seem like an eternity before they reach the safe house, which looks like just another slice of Americana in the suburbs of Haven - and hides a cadre of the supernatural supremacists inside. Seth is beckoned into the garage by a likely familiar, and lower rank member of the Haven branch of the Hand, who drags it closed behind their borrowed vehicle and then moves to address Seth and his passenger. A passenger who has, unfortunately, passed away in the to and fro of this chase - having bled out into the car. The head in the bag remains safe though, or at least as safe as it could be.

"Well, shit," The grunt utters out softly as they open the passenger side door, and the body slumps out. "Who was that?"

Seth only begins to slow the vehicle as he approaches the safe house's garage. He brings the banged up, bullet riddle little electric car to a stop, gripping the steering wheel tight, knuckles white, as the door closes behind him. Heavy, ragged breaths escape him as he tries to calm down for a moment, and others from the Hand approach. When, finally, he looks to the stranger he'd met earlier in the evening, he notices how he's slumped over, entirely still, eyes staring off into nothing. "Hey man, hey, we're alright" he says, reaching out to touch him and finding no response, "You, you..." Then the door opens, and the man, now just a body, slumps out. Seth looks up at the grunt who stands there over it, and he clambers out himself, hauling the bag with the artefact with him. "Shit..." he says as he makes his way around and stands over the fresh corpse, "I never got his name..."
