(A battle in the Nightmare)

On a Lonely Stretch of Mariner's Highway
Stretching east and west is this one long and dusty highway road. The
asphalt of the pavement has seen a better day; it's patched and worn,
crumbling at the edges of its shoulders where an abundance of wild grasses
takes over. They slump into low ditches at the sides where water is meant
to pool, and beyond that are weak fences and forested property to the south,
as well as rolling hills to the north.
It is night, about 62F(16C) degrees, There is a new moon.
"..Who are-" Roger blurts out in surprised, and frightened alarm, raising his weapons and peering through the nightmare toward Kah and Jodie.
Spotting someone through the darkness, Kah growls excitedly and he dashes forward. His spear comes to bear like a lance as he rushes forward with great speed. His shield settles into place, faint silvered face dull in the shadows of the nightmare.
Roger is not excited, he's terrified. He raises his rifle, and nearly drops it when it kicks back in his hands, then turning to try and flee into the darkness. It's in vain, largely because he's missing a leg, and having to hobble around on crutches.
Raising his shield to deflect the incoming projectile, there's the sound of a PING as it strikes the metal! Then the giant of a man is leaping ... up into air?! Kah roars a wordless battle-cry.
Roger blanks for a few moments there, but when he comes back to his senses he continues to hobble away, trying to juggle his weaponry and the crutches both as he skitters through the nightmare, already breaking out into a sweat.
Rushing through the sky, Kah doesn't so much as fly through air as he runs upon on as there were solid ground beneath his feet. In an arc he comes, veering downward to hit the ground much closer than he was before, rushing toward Roger still in a ferocious display.
"Oh, no! Oh no! Gods!" Roger chokes out in rising alarm, twisting to fire another round toward Kah as they come rushing in across the air, "Oh god, he's flying!" That means that they're really strong! Roger doesn't know much, but he does know this, "Please, I beg you, don't eat me!"
Finally closing the distance, Kah seems to rush into focus and grow all the larger! If he seems a giant before his full frame up close is all the more so. There's a HEAVY thrust of his spear, coming forward to clash into the desparate turn of Roger's steel axe. "I do not eat humans unless I am hungry!" A savage smile flashes across the Egyptian's face, revealing a wicked, wolfish smile.
"No!" Roger blurts out, as if they might be able to simply rearrange reality with this cry of anguish. He doesn't want to be eaten. Not again. There's a flash of steel as he haphazardly swings his axe around once more, then tucking his tail between his legs and trying to limp away.
"Do you not wield that axe with the skill of a warrior?" Kah calls out, almost confused as the man seems to fear the coming battle. This seems almsot unknown to him as he continues to chase down his enemy. "Face me with pride!" Still that Hoplite barrels down onto Roger, the status of his ally long-since forgotten as he lets the frenzy enter him.
Pride. Yes. Of course. There's a pause there as Roger swells up to his own impressive height, looking Kah right in the eye. Then the man tosses the axe at him, abandoning it, and turns to just focus on trying to escape, sweating and panting as he does his best to run with the crutches.
With a look of irritation, Kah just gives a "Bah!" as his shield comes up and pushes wide to send the deflected axe flying off into the shadows. "Very well then. I will chase you like the prey you are." Still on the move, how can such a big man move so agile, so fast?! But he does, his spear once more finding its way into the meat of the armor that covers Roger's body.
The blow damn near topples Roger as the spear catches him in the small of his back. He stumbles forward, trying to catch himself with his crutches before they go flying out from under him, "Please, lord, have mercy!" He blurts out, scrambling away now on knee and elbows.
Still does Kah charge down at Roger, as he comes down and begins to crawl the spear of the larger man comes smashing down near him, trying to catch him and cut off his escape but it misses, diving the blade of the thing into the ground! "Omph! Mercy is for those who earn it" he growls, growing almost frustrated at how well this man seems to be able to deflect his blows - dodging this way and that. Is this man more than what he seems, or is Kah just so out of practice?
If there's more to Roger than it appears, that might not be readily apparent. He's beaten down by Kah's attack, curling into a ball on the ground and trying to protect his head, and face from any further damage as the larger man's spear penetrates him over, and over again, sliding into the warm, gushy insides of the poor, peasant-like fellow.
Here within the nightmares and shadows, these wounds cause pain but they don't seem to remain behind like true wounds. They fade out of existence but take with them something of the man's essence as the menacing Kah finally manages to catch a pure strike against Roger. The spear drives into his shoulder finding meat and bone. "Ha! Victory!" But then the sight of the man may begin to fade out of sight eventually as he begins to wake up from the dreaming reality around them.
Roger fades out of the nightmare.
