(A battle in the Nightmare)
[Fri Oct 11 2024]
In the newly painted Living Room of Apartment 104
The small, unassuming living room now feels refreshingly inviting after a
thorough clean-up. The aged furniture has been carefully arranged, giving the
room a sense of balance. Any fixable blemishes have been meticulously
addressed, with scratches in the paneling smoothed out and surfaces polished to
a subtle shine. Though the ceiling still bears some blotchy discoloration from water stains , a few strategically placed houseplants draw the eye away and
bring in a touch of nature.
A crisp, fresh coat of white paint covers the walls, illuminating the space
with a newfound brightness. The once-dated decor has been carefully integrated
into the rooms aesthetic: the green-glass table lamp now adds a quirky vintage
charm, while the overly floral watercolor painting is offset by modern,
minimalist touches a soft gray throw on the couch and a sleek wooden coffee
table. The overall result is a charming blend of old and new, with the
apartment feeling lived-in but lovingly cared for.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
Fayad retreats from Korina as he's drawn into the nightmare, grimacing in annoyance, levelling his spear to meet a possible charge as the aether coalesces next to him. "Great," he mutters.
"Oh, good," Korina mentions, stretching her arms out above her head before she charges at Fayad - only to be thrown a distance away. She lands on her feet with feline grace, barely deterred, and there's instead a vice grip around Fayad's mind, holding him very, very still.
"I was hungry," Korina finishes that train of thought once she's sauntered her way over to take a stab at Fayad, taking her time as though a cat playing with a mouse before it's going to inevitably get eaten.
Fayad seems confused by how Korina is suddenly back in front of him, the psychic power allowing her to do absolutely Za Warudo silliness like that, but he jabs out at Korina, the poison tipped spear grazing Korina's left hand as he backpedals.
"You are looking less dead these days," Korina says conversationally, following up with yet another slash of claws at Fayad while she questions him as though talking about what restaurants he's been going to for dinner. "Who did you feed on?"
Fayad apparantly can't attack THEN move, the spear instead striking the ground, wasting the poison entirely as his minion shows up in a desperate attempt to fend Korina off. "No one," he hisses. "I'm not like you shitters. There's a thing called 'recovering'." However, he has a giant bite wound on his leg that he's limping on - seems he wasn't in good shape to begin with for this fight.
It's probably because Fayad's spent all that time jabbing Korina with a taser - which works, for the record. She lets out a hiss, frozen for a few moments, and it's a good thing Fayad hasn't strayed too far. She follows, though her limbs don't seem to be following her command enough to strike back at Fayad.
And then Korina recovers, apparently, and she's lashing out at Fayad again. "Call me a shitter again and I will dunk you in the toilet," she tells him while he fades from the nightmare, not seeming all that offended by the term - it's just out of principle, really.
Fayad fades out of the nightmare.
Korina squints at Fayad /still being here/, but she turns for the figurine instead this time.
"Stop that." Korina tells kintsugi-repaired Klauth figurine, with Yet Another Stab. Her arms don't seem to be getting tired anytime soon.
Korina shoots out an arrow at the figurine as it retreats, satisfied when it hits the mark.
