A Battle In The Nightmare 241209

(A battle in the Nightmare)

[Sun Dec 8 2024]

In the Parking Lot of the Elm Street Apartment Complex

It is night, about 40F(4C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. There is a waxing gibbous moon.

Lenny glances around the area as he sees Vindicta here. He frowns a little then says, "Y'fuckin' someone right now eh?" blunt and crass. Its to be expected from him

Percy glances at Colton as he settles into the sudden strange realm. He checks the bolt on his rifle. "Such a queer thing, this business," he tells the man. "I daresay I'll never get used to it."

Glancing aside to Percy as the pair of men step into the nightmare, Colton nods his head in greeting before turning out towards the thick of the nightmare, peering around for whoever might've been snared.

"It's all in how you think about it," he grunts. "Literally. You'll do fine. Though, if I'm remembering yesterday properly, I gotta teach you how to do a little triage. Gotta keep your skills sharp, Mister Percy."

Percy says "Hallo out there! Who is it we're at some sport with tonight?"
"Bianchini was trying," Vindicta confesses to Lenny with a quiet whine, though upon appraising Lenny, she notes: "See Lenny was too." There's some amusement there as she slips down from the bed she had clambered into, letting it fade from the nightmare in a stream of wisps, then saying: "Sound like Percy and Colton."

Percy nods to Colton. "I daresay," he agrees. "It's been on my list of tricks to learn, I just haven't come around to it."

"AH y'know me." Lenny grins at Vindicta, looking amused that he's been busted too. He fixes up his clothing then says, "I'm still feeling like trash so don't expect the best performance out of me."

"Little easier if you're taught," Colton grunts, glancing back to Percy with a nod. "Find me if you need that. Sounds like Vindicta and Lenny. Lenny's good with a neutralizer, so don't telegraph any big moves or he'll throw it. Prick."

Colton says, more for the Temple's benefit, "And Vindicta's a pain in the ass with her fucking bola."
Percy tells Colton, "I daresay I don't have any big moves. I'm just a soldier out of time, old boy." He shakes his head. "And more a lover than a fighter, regardless. In the War, well -- the boys I was with tried to make sure the damage we did was done before we saw an enemy." He shakes his head. "I find this nightmare business damnably odd."

For all that Percy talks like a novice, there is some workmanlike effort to how he checks the looseness of his scimitar in its scabbard and how he arranges reloads for his Lee-Enfield just so.

Percy says "Hallo, Vindicta. Seems like we keep meeting on the other side of some iron sights, old girl."
"Before we rush in," Colton muses, pausing for a moment in his hunt for the humans, "What's your MyHaven? Tell me you're caught up on that."

"Colt werewolf, so probably danger up close. Will try to sneak around side, so keep eye on- harder to take down than Percy- no offense, Percy!" Vindicta says with a chipper chirp, casting her gaze aside to Lenny, then pulling her hood up to cover her hair- amongst other things. "Percy have some magic, but not sure how will use it, if at all," she allows, then giggles faintly as that English accent reaches her ears. "Yeah, but Bianchini think it fun to fight cute boys- just as fun as kissing them. Maybe more," claims the bitty, her pallid eyes flashing with excitement as she slips along through the nightmare, inching closer to her adversaries, albeit with great caution.

Lenny moves to get closer to Vindicta after firing off a shot. Warning Vindicta about the rough man that seems to be getting closer too fast. "If he gets into melee he'll crush us, so you got that right. Best we try not to let that happen."

"Colt will hit harder, but Percy easier to take down. Split between taking out bigger threat first, or minimizing the amount of bullet and arrow sent Bianchini and Lenny way," Vindicta decides, retreating some as Colton draws closer, trying to maintain that distance between herself and the crossbow-wielding man with a frustrated huff of breath exhaled through her mask. "Bianchini follow Lenny lead," the Rabbit decides, hoisting up her rifle to press against her shoulder and fire off an equally disappointing shot in Colton's direction, offering a 'tsk' as the bullet slams into the ground by his feet, spritzing him with shrapnel but little else. "Think this will be hard fight, since Percy dangerous too- but Bianchini like hard fights."

The man warned about Lenny's grenades but there's nothing he can do to stop the silver ball from arching towards the rough man. When it lands at his feet it pulses to zap all the power out of the man. It's followed up with a shot of his gun and then Lenny backpeddles.

"Ouchies..." Vindicta whimpers as she is struck again and again by a combination of debris from those bolts striking the ground, and the backlash of wind when they whizz by her face. "Colt too strong for Bianchini," she admits, struggling to remain upright amidst the onslaught, her body too off-balance to strike the man with anything remotely hard-hitting. Instead, the next shot she fires off goes right over the top of her head as she takes a tumble, slipping in the snow in the middle of squeezing the trigger and landing on her rear end with a bump. She's half in the grave and half out, but she doesn't look like she's going to lay down without tagging Colton at least one good time during this fight. Just as soon as her shot misses, she's preparing to line up another on him with calm, steady breaths.

Letting out a growl - and a distinctly unimpressive one, at that - as that static-fuzz whine breaks out and throws pins and needles, Colton tucks his shoulders in and puts feet to the floor, charging in closer. He's focusing Vindicta down first, for sure.

"I dont have any tasers or anything, forgot to get new ones..but what we got is tear gas if he comes to melee and we can use one after the other." Lenny suggest to Vindicta as he moves to protect her from Colton, "You can use yours first since I'm gonna melee him a bit."

"Tear gas won't work," Vindicta tells Lenny with a gesture towards the respirator that Colton wears, saying: "Colt wearing gas mask. Waste of grenade. Lenny should throw frag if have one. If not, Bianchini have for him," she decides, flinging one of those terrifying bolas end over end right at Colton's ankles and watching as they trip him up. And history just keeps repeating itself, because once Colton is sufficiently entangled, she bolts even further away after firing off a shot aimed right towards the center of the Moore's chest. Still, despite all of this she squeals: "Not personal!!" before running even further away, desperately trying to maintain that distance between herself and the encroaching man for as long as possible.

"God DAMN it!" Colton yells, tripping ass over heels as his ankles snap together mid stride. At least his belly hits the earth before his forehead does, but he does do a fantastic micro-impression of that one Worm dance move before he snaps the bindings apart and climbs back up to his feed. He offers Vindicta the Look. Shooting at him is one thing; inconveniencing him another. He lifts his crossbow and fires off a shot at Vindicta again, then lets his attention cut across to Lenny.

"You could still try the gas," he suggests, from behind a respirator.

"Ah, didn't notice that." Lenny tells Vindicta, he scowls then says, "Nah, he'll move before that blows up. I'll fuck em over if he gets close." he moves again to try and block for Vindicta but he's much slower than her right now due to his weakness. He pops off a shot then tells Vindicta, "Everytime you move, he gets a free shot on you."

Terrified. Vindicta catches the Look that Colton gives her and it causes the tiny woman to freeze in place, her face contorting like she might drop to her knees, sobbing, and beg for forgiveness. She's shaking like a leaf, her equipment, her rifle, rattling with the intensity of her fear until something blocks her view of the man's eyes. It's Lenny, shifting in front of her in that familiar protective stance and giving her mind a moment to breathe as much as her mouth does. She sniffles quietly, then leans forward to press her face between his shoulder blades. It's probably unsettling to most, the way she breathes in his scent, before steeling herself and taking a moment to step from behind him and pop off a quick barrage of bullets in Colton's direction, seeming calm and comfortable now as she stares at their shared adversary, laying her trust in Lenny's ability to defend her. "Okay," she whispers quietly.

He's still neutralized, but not for much longer, and Colton snaps off a number of shots in a barrage as he approaches. None threaten anyone directly, but it's a difficult thing for Lenny to shield Vindicta from every possible bolt, even if none of them are going to do very much harm at all.

"Well he's finally made it to us, this is going to suck." Lenny complains as he fires off a final shot at Colton before the man is destined to reach them.

"Be okay," Vindicta assures Lenny easy for her to say while she uses the man as a human shield, though not a very effective one as Colton swaps to spray and pray mode, the little woman ultimately receiving several damning bolts- one embeds itself in her shoulder, one finds her thigh, one even opens a gash across her left cheek before she manages to tuck herself against Lenny's spine, bracing herself for the impact that is to come when Colton takes those final steps. Her breathing is shuddered, nervous, but also calm in some ways as she prepares to fight the Moore up close and personal.

Colton's speed picks up notably on that last little stretch, and he dives in to snag Vindicta by her poor bolt-struck shoulder and force her between himself and Lenny as he lashes out at the other man with his axe, breathing hard as his wounds begin to rapidly stitch over. For a werewolf, his healing ability is absolutely monstrous - and that's on top of his hypernatural strength.

"Right," he snarls. "I fucking hate fighting the Temple."

It almost seems reflexive, the way Vindicta screams: "Lenny!" the moment Colton grabs her and snatches her away from the man's side, using her as a minuscule protective shield that keeps her fellow Templar from taking another swing at the wolf. But she's resourceful- in a world where you're as small and frail as Vindicta is, well, you learn a few tricks, and though she tries and fails to free herself from Colton's arms, she still manages to do *something*. Shaky hands reach towards the utility belt slung about her hips and pull from within her taser, and with a quick shout of: "Bianchini sorry!!" that's unfortunately right under her assailant's ear, she jabs him right in the kidney and zaps the guy with two point one milli vanillis of electricity straight to the gut.

"Bianchini sorry!!" Vindicta repeats, this time to Lenny as all of that electric boogaloo comes back to haunt Colton in the form of spasming muscles and blinking lights in his eyesight. It gives Vindicta a gap in time to where she can level a kick to the Moore's shin to further help free herself, whip around with her knife aimed towards his hip, and then bolt back behind the safety of Lenny with a frantic dash. "Beat him up, Lenny!" she cheers, spinning that knife easily in her grasp and taking a breather as she prepares for the next round.

Not quite able to stop Vindicta from pulling free of his traitorous, lightning-numbed fingers, Colton sags over in relief as the current finishes making his internal organs dance a salsa before straightening up, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Such a monumental fucking pain in the ass," he scowls, then lifts a hand to yank Vindicta roughly back towards him before slamming her in the chest with his axe, tearing a line through her armoured vest.

"You gotta start stocking up on those neutralisers, too," he mutters. "Much as I hate to admit it. You were really pressing me for a minute there." Now, though, he seems to be recovering faster than the pair can wear him down.

Lenny moves in from Colton's flank to try and strike him, the attack was meant to lure out a parry for which he can hook Colton's axe and yank it from him to disarm. "I'm going to invest in a lot of silver bullets for you."

"That remind Bianchini," Vindicta confesses to Colton, albeit just a touch too late for her own good now that Colton has managed to snatch her away from Lenny once more. She looks a bit embarrassed that she hadn't thought of this sooner, but it also seems that she hadn't been fully aware of Colton's list of many talents. Still, when Lenny closes in once more, she tosses that grenade into the air high above their heads and in the same motion that her fellow Templar disarms the man, she's swinging in for another jarring strike of her knife, this time aimed for Colton's left shoulder, trying to hinder his ability to swing that axe around. Unfortunately this also means stepping out from behind her guardian, which gives Colton that blink of an opportunity to catch her across the chest with his axe before it is wrested away. She whimpers, but she's still standing, and so she tries to keep herself upright for what seems to be the last stand for her, or nearing such.

Well, Colton can't really complain if he gets neutralised right after he recommended it, right? Wrong. "Goddamnit, bitch," he groans, whacking Vindicta in the stomach with a light jab - or what passes for a light jab with the man's freakish strength, neutralised or not. His eyes slide over to Lenny next, and he says, "I'm saving you for fucking dessert, Lenny. I'm going to stuff you and make foie gras out of your goddamn liver."

"Nah, I want to go to bed. Have Vindicta for desert." Lenny suggest, stepping in front of Vindicta to body block again. He swings his sword to try and cut into Colton but fails to get past his guard again. This battle has certainly dragged for an hour and a half, he's probably looking to get it over with ASAP now.

"Bianchini not bitch! Only Lenny can call that," Vindicta complains to Colton with a huff, the Deputy half slumped over as she struggles to battle Colton's fists with her knife, that pretty cherubic face of hers drenched in blood like a horror movie. And then she's lumped when that fist smacks her in the jaw, causing her to stagger all over again in pain. But she's nothing if not persistent, and so she stands at a slight angle, unable to remain upright, as she aims another slash at Colton's chest. "B-Bianchini.. Not dessert. Too gamey.. A-Always running, say so already," she insists breathlessly.

Neutralised, Colton's healing halts in place again and has to take a good bit of care avoiding Vindicta's knife. He trades a glance with Lenny that locks the Templar briefly in place while he leans sharply away from Vindicta, moving over to collect his axe before the psychic stasis can fade.

Meanwhile, Vindicta is fighting for her lift behind Lenny as the two far stronger men battle it out around her. She's a supporting actress in this battle between super powers, in all honesty- and she seems to realize this, too. She whittles away at Colton where Lenny hacks away chunks, and it's a marvel beyond all marvels that she still stands even now. Perhaps she was unconscious a long time ago and her body is simply moving on reflex and instinct.

Breathing out slowly, Colton begins to push forwards again, chopping into Vindicta's vest once more as he waits for his power to return for him. "Come on, then," he grunts. "Let's get this done with."

Lenny decides not to do anymore delaying strikes or tricks to drag this out any longer. It's a pure hammer fest and his machete makes a bad hammer as he tries to bust through Colton's guard while he stands in front of Vindicta

No more fancy tricks is something that Vindicta normally doesn't do, but for the sake of brevity and at least one person between herself and Lenny getting laid tonight, it's a sacrifice she seems willing to make. Swing, swing, swing, stab, stab, stab, and it's all leveled upon Colton.

Colton's muscles bunch and contort as he rears back the haft of his axe splintering lightly under his grip as he whacks his axe into Lenny's side with full strength before turning to Vindicta. "Fight to your fullest," he grunts.

"Bianchini fight to fullest always!" Vindicta counters to Colton as she just keeps trying to hack at him with her knife. "But Bianchini also have smaller cup, so get full faster!" she whines as she tries to sneak a stab in at Colton's flesh, but only finds further barricades blocking her.

Colton's absolutely worn down at this point, breathing out hard as he lets out a little chuckle. "Heard you weren't all that, actually," he grunts. "But you'd have skewered me a few times if not for my hide. You know what you're doing with that knife." He scores another thin gash through Vindicta's armour - this time ripping through the damn thing and exposing the vulnerable chest beneath.

"I do have to take this all a little personally, though."

"Bianchini sweet, innocent bean," Vindicta denies Colton, refusing to accept the title of 'someone who can score' adamantly, because that comes with so much more than she is willing to deal with. "Nnnh... Colt already make Bianchini always look over shoulder after District Eighty-Two," she informs the Moore, staring up at him with helpless eyes. "Not take personal. Forgive Bianchini," she insists, flashing him that winning, cheek-dimpling smile of hers, streaked with blood and heavily bruised as it is.

"You are a colossal pain in the ass," Colton refutes, "And I don't do forgiveness. I take revenge." He steps back as his wounds knit over en masse, blows out a breath, then lifts his axe. "This is what counts as revenge." He lowers his stance, then rushes forward in a massive, lunging strike. His axe whistles through the air - then splits Vindicta's dream-self through, leaving her the gruesome memory of falling in twain to wake up to.

Vindicta fades out of the nightmare.
