(Cailyn's bargaining)
[Fri Dec 29 2023]
In Town Hall Northern Meeting Room
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
"Hola," Angelique greets mildly as she walks in, giving representative of The People a long look up and down. "It is good to see you," she offers, probably disingenuous, as usual. But the smile's so bright, the bat of her lashes so well-practiced! Stepping over, she holds out a hand and says, "Angelique Inigo, with the Hand. Let me show you just what we can do for you, si, Senor?"
Cailyn wanders in, flicking her gaze towards Angelique before handing a small case over towards representative of The People. "I'm sure you'll find GenTek's studies... Quite interesting. Funded by the Order, of course."
Satisfied with her offer, then, Cailyn makes her way to a table. "Cailyn," she says in greeting to Angelique, tone soft despite the fact they currently oppose one another.
Angelique arches a brow as Cailyn cuts in, giving her a cool and assessing look as well. "Perhaps," she offers with a toss of her head. "I imagine the Order's offer -is- interesting, but the Order simply can't do for the People what the Hand can," she carries on with her own bargaining, bouncing right back off of Cailyn's claims. "After all, they're highly unlikely to step in to protect you, are they?"
"Why would we? Ahh, senor," she says with a soft little purr of a laugh. "Because there are so many things you can offer us that exceed the value of simply more men to work for us, si?"
"Cailyn? Ah, si, si." Angelique echoes, before eventually she nods, having settled her business as much as it seems she's willing to, with representative of The People. "Angelique," she returns in kind, with a small, practiced smile. "It is good to meet you."
"But wouldn't the People be willing to work with the vast connections of the Order?" Cailyn hums with a little shrug. "Our Scrolls are the best information-gatherers around. Our Shields," she murmurs, a hand placed to her chest, "The best bodyguards."
"Perhaps?" Angelique tips her head. "But the Order has long been a neutral stance in the matter of wars, si? Would you truly be willing to provide them arms and soldiers to fight against those that currently outmatch them?" Has she promised the Hand would do such a thing? Unlikely.
"It's good to meet you as well," Cailyn tells Angelique eith a beaming smile. "It's not everyday I get to meet some of my beloved's coworkers..." She listens to Angelique before those waifish shoulders lift into another shrug. "The Order is far from neutral. At least- Not with people like me near the top. Perhaps the Warden wants to maintain that idea... But I will not allow such. It's simply a time for action."
Angelique slides into a seat to wait for representative of The People's decision, and turns those bold, green eyes on Cailyn. "Your jewelry is lovely, bella," she offers, before chuckling and asking, "Co-workers?" But as she goes on to talk more, the dark eyebrows lift in a gesture of mild surprise. "Oh, si? Well now that is most fascinating, Ms. Summers. Or... is it Dr. Summers?"
"The choker was a gift to myself, the earrings a gift from Sarah. Her new choker was my Christmas gift to her..." Cailyn trails off, legs crossing over one another at the knees. "You can just call me Cailyn. I don't have a doctorate- Just two bachelors."
"You see no conflict of interest, being entangled with our leader and claiming to be near leadership yourself?" Angelique wonders, that small smile lingering as she asks this of Cailyn. "Si, pero Sarah is a smart woman, indeed." There's a touch of something akin to praise in her voice, at this discovery, but lord only knows why.
