Ashs Decursing Attempt 240920

(Ash's decursing attempt)

[Thu Sep 19 2024]

On Suncrest Lane
Shrouded by boughs overhead and sticking out like civilization itself marked a patch of road in defiance of the forest itself, this route appears utterly mundane in its construction. Little effort seems to have gone in making this area little more than something functional for the occasional car or passerby on foot. At the very least, it is utilitarian in that it does seem to be keeping the encroaching woods at bay, at least for now.

It is afternoon, about 82F(27C) degrees, Ankle high mist flows through the area.

Ash says "...what the fuck are you talking about? These are for my collection. Why would I give a fuck? And I have a cursed necklace."
Ash says "Oh, it's the new intake."
Ritsuka opens the door and curses something in Japanese that sounds like a very huge, politely spoken complaint when her heels wade into the water. Phone in one hand and she steps on over towards Ash "Konichiwa, Ash-san. Sumimasen for being a little late." She glances around.

Ash holds their hand out in front of them, the bone necklace hanging from their fingers. From their other hand emerges a will o' wisp, a living ball of fairy fire. They make gestures with their fingers, and the will o' wisp flies back into their hand, snuggling warmly and lovingly - until they crush it.

For several seconds the room grows painfully hot.
The creature bursts like an orange, liquid light oozing from their clawed grasp and onto the bone bracelet handing from their first and third fingers. The liquid also covers Ash's fingertips, dripping onto their toes as well. Soon, the light stops dripping, and they hold their one hand over the other.

Ash drawls, "It has already begun... though, your company is welcome, Ms. Shimomi."

Ash doesn't seem to even respond to the heat, except to smile slightly. They certainly don't look like they're starting to sweat, anyhow. They have to think a moment before they start properly, moving backwards with their palm flat, leaning before stepping. The necklace remains in the air, the bone glistening with light as threads of light stretch between the necklace and their fingers.

The whole room shakes.
Ash eyes Ritsuka, likely about to say something - but changes their mind, nodding to her. They continue their mystical movements, here they begin to pull out those strings, twisting them with hand motions, interlacing their fingers of both hands with the strings to pull them apart, braid them together, split them into two or more pieces, and draw them futher away. Their movements are graceful, fluid, yet exact, marking specific paths with the threads of light.

Ash pulls to an exact distance, then murmurs a word, the strings becoming pinned in midair to form a mystic sigil. And then they move to the side, then dance back to the floating bone necklace, touching it and drawing lines of light once more. Beneath the water, the steps their feet take glow, revealing arcane shapes that reflect how their toes trailed along the mud, how they turned their ankles and shifted their stance until a pattern is formed beneath in their path.

All metal objects in the room are suddenly tugged violently towards the artifact.
Ash drawls as they move, their body swaying as they serve as a conduit to the light, weaving rays into their growing magical circle, "What is evil, Ms. Shimomi? What makes it an evil spirit?" They nearly slip in the mud when the area shakes, but they've the reflexes and acrobatic talent to maintain their balance. Their ear, nose, and fingers, sadly, are a bigger issue, earning them a yelp of pain and blood in the water as the metal is pulled so sharply. They do not lose focus, however.

Ash curses, blood running from their nose as they say, "Piece of fucking donkey diarrhea!" It was but a jolt, though, and they were able to preserve their footsteps. It really is a blessing that they changed their tactics due to the water - if they had been doing their normal dancing and leaps, they would have messed up terribly.

Growing air pressure makes your ear's pop uncomfortably and deadens all sound.
"Evil enters the world from outside and is brought by evil spirits, Ash-san," Ritsuka asks, lightly again as she waves some of the incense in Ash's direction. This one is sandalwood, and when Ash curses, she watches, analytically, and pausing whatever she was saying. Once satisfied with what she sees, she does continue "They affect human beings in simnilar way to disease and reduce their ability to resist temptation. When human beings act wrongly, they bring pollution upon themselves, which obstructs the flow of life and blessing from the kami." When the pressure makes her ears pop, she winces momentarily.

Ash starts to hurry, however. They warn Ritsuka, "It's getting to the climax!" as they speed their movements up, the dance becoming more so, the threads forming a round tapestry or basket, their footsteps a mandala as their movements grow more feverish. Sound is deadened after they speak, and so they speak no further, though they certainly have something to say to Ritsuka, given their expression and the glance they give. Still, their lips do not move, their legs, hands, and even fingers doing so instead. The water splashes as they thrash, their gray dreads fly out, the beads glowing in the light.

Ash finishes the circle, and the patterns glow, below and above, as the energy surges into the bone necklaced. There's a bright flash of light... then they sigh, relieved.

Ritsuka glances on over to the cursed item and holds the plate with the incense close to the item, without disturbing Ash's ritualistic dance. She does offer a mischievous smilee when she says "Yes, the evil spirit is leaving."

With a final burst of power the curse on a bone necklace is broken.
