Ashs Decursing Attempt 241002

(Ash's decursing attempt)

[Tue Oct 1 2024]

In The Cauldron -- The Mundane
Recessed lighting shines from the wall directly opposing the entrance, and it proves to be the only source of light in this atmospheric foyer. It's dark; and any additional natural or artificial lighting is drowned out by shadows. The ceiling is supported by maple support beams, and a fan lazily spins overhead to provide a gentle breeze for the guests. Shelves and tables fill the space here, atop natural, hardwood flooring that has been scuffed by time.

An ornate full-length mirror hangs on the northern wall.

It is night, about 60F(15C) degrees, There is a new moon.

Ash says "Oh, going to bed, Bear?"
Ash says "I was hoping to have your help, too."
Bear says "Ah. Ash, right?"
Berlin slips an arm around Tabitha, leading her toward the door. He offers Ash a smile and a wave as he passes them, disappearing into the shop and out into the night.

Ash tilts their head at Bear, then nods. Looking out, they sigh, drawling, "Well, it was more *them* that I wanted to help... I was joking around. I have an items that I want to decurse, and I'm looking for friends. Does that sound any good to you? Or too spooky?"

Bear says "I mean, if you're askin' for my help, you got it, but I gotta' tell you my knowledge of the occult doesn't extend much further than what you saw my first night."
Ash nods, informing him, "Well, I'm an expert, fortunately."

Ash says "Cauldron cauldron cauldron cauldron cauldron or call me please"
Bear says "Ah, then you need an expendable meat shield. I'm your guy.""
Ash grins to Bear, drawling, "Yep! More for stability than anything else."

Bear seems genuinely comfortable with it.

Ash says "Nnno, not the restroom... I guess here is fine."
Ash says "I'd like anyone else to come and help, but I know you probably can't hear me. Guess I get Bear aaaaaall to myself!"
Bear hovers behind Ash, mostly trying to make himself small, trying not to be a bull in a China shop. He waits for instruction, watching with interest.

Ash chuckles, agreeing. "I'll wait as long as I can, but it'll start whether others get here or not."

Ash says "Now, the issue with this is that it's going to be blasting shit, and catching things on fire... and I rather like not catching fire. And I'll be dancing, so try not to look too far under my skirt." They smirk to bear as they wait, hoping for someone to come along, still."
Bear says "That real silver? Nice. Probably pawns for a nice amount. ...Wait, I'm not gettin' sacrificed on an altar, am I? Cause, I gotta tell ya', with my liver damage, you're barely gettin' functional blood, much less virgin's."
Ash cheers when Kah comes in, drawling, "Fantastic! I didn't think you heard me! And just in time, too! I'm decursing... can you stand that?"

Bear continues, "Seriously, I've drank a -lot- of toilet wine..." Noticing Kah, "Oh, heya' big fella."

"What is the trouble?" Kah replies, stepping down through stairwells and stooping into sight. The giant of a man gives a grunt, "I will try." He stays where he is however, far away from Ash and Bear both as he remains nearby the staircase in case he decides he has had enough. "Do you know what origin of curse?"

Ash shakes their head as they hold the silver dagger out on the upturned palms of both hands. "I don't know the origin, though. Thank you for trying, at least! I usually... figure it out by the first time it swings a 'punch'." With that, they start the ritual. The first step, for them, is light. Always light.

With a sigh, Kah can already sense the nature of some form of magic within the room, eminating from Ash's person. He doesn't yet have sight on the item itself but it brings a brief rise of lip to curl at the corner of his mouth. His eyes shoot briefly between them and Bear again. This evening, Kah looks a little on the low side as he seems under the weather for no readily apparent reason. Subconsciously, the large man lets a growl begin in the barrel of his chest as it begins to slowy creep its way up his throat and out from between his teeth. Squeezing his eyes shut for a moment, he waits until the light that illuminates the back of his eyelids settles before opening them slowly to keep from being blinded by the sudden shift. "Better you thanb me" he breathes.

Bear can sense nothing, but looks at Kah with some concern. "So, uh, am I just grabbin' you stuff, or are we fightin' off demons, or.."

A blast of force sends Bear flying into Kah.

Ash summons will o' wisps that fade into the air around them, lighting up the room, then choosing spots in a circle that includes Bear and Ash both. Stepping back, the dagger slides from their hand... and remains in midair. "No, that, right there - that's what you're here for," Ash informs Bear as he is send flying into Kah by a blast of force. "To wrangle the curse's ire, so that I can focus."

As Bear's word becomes cut off, the man goes flying toward Kah The man wraps gigantic arms around him with a grunt as he catches him to his chest like a solid blow for them both. Well ... only for Bear really, but the man soon drops him back down onto the ground after absorbing the brunt of that blow. "Easy now." The man's words are already strained, and if he looked Bear might see the skin almost quite literally rippling with agitation and revulsion at the scent and feel of something that fills this room, now. "You will do well" he tries to grin at the man, but cannot quite manage it.

Ash begins their dance by taking off their sandals, then taking slow, grounding steps. Every time the sole of their feet touch the ground, light pulses from it. Their hands and feet take exact movements, a mudra or other arcane gesture accompanying every step. The light pulses as the energy of the dagger begins to seep into the floor, visible even to Bear like plasma ball lightning.

Growing air pressure makes your ear's pop uncomfortably and deadens all sound.
Bear grits his teeth, having little idea whats going on, but bracing his stance, "Fuck me, you don't ask for much, do ya'?!" As the ritual begins to heighten, he grounds himself at the sight of the electrict, bracing for a shock.

Even this is enough to cause Kah to back away a little further, eyes narrowing as the man waits still as a statue otherwise. He hands clench, and un-clench with a restless agitation that he cannot hide. His teeth grind and his entire body begins to tense and grow rigid from the tension that seeps into and through him. "Let this be done quickly" Kah says before his eyes widen in a sharp blossom of pain that begins to show in his skull. It's enough to draw a dangerous whine from Kah's lips.

Ash then begins to gather energy as their steps start to increase the pace, their hand gestures falling from ancient, traditional mudras, approaching the art of tutting, finger and hand gestures that carve out geometric shapes and patterns in light, while their feet beat a stomp, slide, spin that draws in light on the floor. "Aether... air... I think fire comes next, but I've not studied it much. It may be light. I might have to study and write a book on it." Their words are hard to hear, of course - the deadened sound as the air pressure pops their ears encourages silence. They don't show signs of pity from Kah - it is expected, it seems, but they do offer a smile - gratitude.

Bear glances between Ash and the increasingly agitated Kah, looking a moment like he's unsure which presents a greater threat in the moment. Still, his job was made clear, so he simply focuses intently on the burdgeoning power in front of him, wishing it was something he could throw a punch at.

A blast of force sends Bear flying into Ash.

Ash works on the magical circle, their feet drawing the circle, and their hands now using all of their arms to make the symbols in the circle - at least, until they take a Bear to the face. Regardless of what strength many supernaturals have, Ash does NOT.

It seems a show of wisdom from Bear, as Kah continues to ride the edge between this task and the reaction that it causes within him. Perhaps it's the draw of the new moon that helps to dampen his other half but it's still a close measure. The man continues to grind his teeth, but the man has to move quickly, trying to intercept this man before they collide with Ash and potentially interrupt their ritual in progress. The closer he gets to them though, the worse that reaction from the man gets, and while he might be able to catch the man it might not be in his best interest - his eyes look more and more crazed by the minute. His attention turns toward Bear, chest heaving as he struggles to keep his breath measured, human.

Bear blinks as a wave pushes past him, the man bracing, but knocked of balance, only for a returning vacuum of force to chuck him bodily into Ash, "Ah, shit, looko-" He collides heavily with Ash's top half, knocking the man over. Large men rarely handle rough falls well, and Bear groans as he scrambles to get back on his feet.

Ash groans from the floor, the half-finished circle flickering, but they raise their hands out to Bear, or Kah - *someone* to help them. Though they *should* fear Kah in this state, some part of them seems willing to trust him, even while they're doing something that drives his wolf insane. But just as much, they rely on Bear as the reliable, surefire means to get back to their feet. Mundane has great value, at times.

The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
lets loose a savage, menacing growl at Bear now with a sense of glowing luminescence seems to come into his eyes. A flash of crecent-moon shapes that seem to interpose on the man's pupils. A step toward the man, another as his skin begins to ripple and potentially threaten to force the shift of the man anyway. This in and of itself would be a dangerous thing, given they're in a confined space and it's a stalking gaze that watches the human. At least he's keeping to his role of being a distraction? Just as Kah is about to leap at the man, he's surprised by a blinding flash! "Ahh!" He howls, his vision blinded by a shock of pain.

Bear half crawls, half runs towards Ash, scrambling a bit like a dog, "Fuck, fuck, FUCK! Don't go to the crazy man!" Strong hands seize Ash and hoist him bodily. Then, after placing Ash on his feet, he turns his back to allow his larger frame to shield the smaller man from Kah as a precaution, offering his own back as a first barrier. "Finish it!"

Ash blinks as the man sets them upright as if they are but a toy, but they take the opportunity, bursting into a frenzied dance of light and magic to finish the circle in time.

Ash twirls and kicks, their skirt flaring near uncomfortabley, their hands flashing as if conducting a symphony, as they dance as if possessed, forcing the magic out of them, then sucking it all up from the silver dagger in an implosion of magic.

There's a rush from Kah, heading toward the voice that calls out! He lunges at Bear, and his HUMAN teeth search for flesh, trying to grab a hold of the man and tear into him with a sudden vicious, ferocity.

With a final burst of power the curse on a silver dagger is broken.
