(Korina's bargaining)
[Fri Oct 18 2024]
In Town Hall Northern Meeting Room
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
"Well, this is an easy conversation, non?" Emmanuel reasons as he wanders into the meeting room, and flashes a tidy little smile toward the representative of Temple Intelligence. "How are the wife? The kids?" He makes a little idle talk while approaching the other man, and then leans against the wall near him, "The Disruptors, hm? We are making a play on Lauriea, I know the other Templars are having their hands full- but we would appreciate the support."
Korina is here to bargain with Temple Intelligence. Or maybe she's just here to pester Emmanuel. "He runs away from poor, helpless folks like me," she informs the representative with a thumb jut out at the Frenchman. "And he doesn't know how to play tic-tac-toe." Maybe she's just here to flame Emmanuel.
"You're a tic-tac-toe." Emmanuel accuses of Korina in response, immediately winning the argument as he crosses his arms over his chest. There's a pause then, and a slight narrowing of his eyes, "..Did you steal my box of clothes?"
"No." Korina sniffs, folding her arms over her own chest in a mirror of Emmanuel's movements. It looks better on her. "They all smelled weird and looked bad. I don't want them. Maybe someone took them to burn them in the parking lot."
Emmanuel does his best to plump up his modest chest in response, "Did you take them into the parking lot to burn them, Korina?" The man asks then, reading an admission in her response with a narrowing of his eyes.
"No," Korina answers truthfully - or is it? "I did not take them into the parking lot to burn them." The sentence is repeated very precisely, word for word, though it lacks Emmanuel's atrocious French accent.
Emmanuel's gaze narrows, and narrows further yet, until eventually it's just a blink and he shakes his head. There's a long suffering sigh from him, "Just into the parking lot, then, oui?"
"No oui." Korina tells Emmanuel. No ouis allowed here. He can take his ouing elsewhere. "I did not touch them."
"But you did touch the box?" Emmanuel has her now, he even raises a hand with a finger pointed toward the ceiling. A classic gotcha pose.
Very smart. Korina's lips press into a thin line. "I do not know what happened to your box of clothes," she tells Emmanuel, clearly and succinctly.
Emmanuel clucks his tongue gently, while the representative of Temple Intelligence looks between the two with a confused expression. "..This is because you left them somewhere, and have not checked it. I am onto you, chatte." The Frenchman assures Korina.
Korina looks like she's /this/ close to rolling her eyes. And then she figures out that she doesn't actually care about whether Emmanuel sees her do it or not, and goes ahead and rolls her eyes. "I did not touch your box of clothes, or the clothes in the box."
Emmanuel stares at Korina, and those pretty rolling eyes, managing to bear the emotional weight through sheer force of will. It's a struggle though. That was a very powerful roll. He just holds his gaze on her, trying to break her with those amber peepers.
The representative of Temple Intelligence decides to support Disruptors.
One does not challenge a cat to a staring contest. Korina stares back at Emmanuel, not even glancing askance at the representative of Temple Intelligence who decides to pack up his bags and go home.
