Emmanuels Syndicate Bargain 241018

(Emmanuel's syndicate bargain)

[Thu Oct 17 2024]

In Town Hall Southern Meeting Room

It is about 60F(15C) degrees.

Emmanuel slinks over toward the Syndicate-payment-accepting window, and slides over a crumpled one dollar bill. He waggles his brows, "There is being more where this came from, hm?"

Sitting tight in her cell, Irene peers through the little window to the north, twisting slightly in her bonds.

Doot doot, doot. Emmanuel taps at his phone, and has Irene delivered to his terrible, terrible clutches. Then he- well, he cuts her bindings, only for her to skitter away with the bound woman.

There's panic in Irene's eyes when she's brought before Emmanuel, but it might not be for the reasons he expects. When she sees where she is, she acts fast, quickly retrieving a phone from her pocket, which she slips into that of the bound woman. Then, she hastily drags her to the door with absolutely no explanation, and simply deposits her out on the street. "Umm." From the door, she starts backing up towards the Sergeant with a sheepish look. "I can explain."

"..I saw the sleeping woman in the street, recognized her, and assumed this is what you were asking about." Emmanuel offers his own explanation in turn, then gesturing over toward the sofa, "I left her there for you, hm?" Then there's a beat, and he clears his throat, "But, oui, explain?"

"So ..." Irene reaches back over her shoulder to rub at her neck, flashing Emmanuel a sheepish smile. "I think that those two didn't actually get the memo that the bank repossessed their house, because I came back here today, and I found them ..." She turns to point at the bedroom. "And then I thought, well, what an opportunity, these two cultists, if they ever come back ... I drugged them, bugged their phones, and then kicked them back out for good measure, so that if they ever come back, they won't know the Temple has tabs on them."

Irene looks very embarrassed with her extreme criminal behaviour, and the way it's been revealed to Emmanuel. "Unfortunately, in the middle of the act, just as I was about to put her bugged phone back into her pocket, some men grabbed me and told me I was going to be enslaved. But then I saw you on the security camera and knew it was apparently to you, which, in a sense, is already the case."

"..Found them sleeping?" Emmanuel clarifies of Irene, apparently this being the most pressing thing she'd said. Despite the kidnapping, and the drugging, and bugging. He glances over towards the bedroom, and then back to the new owner of this humble abode. "Hm. I haven't seen them in some time. Strange that they are being around now." He notes with a soft cluck of the tongue, then glancing back to, and over Irene, "Are you being okay, bying the by? The Syndicate, the people who took you, are not always being gentle."

The question as to her wellbeing has Irene narrowing her eyes at Emmanuel faintly. "You know," she starts to reply, "with everything that's happened since I got here, and the state I'm in now -- Julius accidentally stabbed me in the shoulder two hours ago -- somehow, some drugs injected into my neck actually didn't seem so bad. It was almost relaxing, a little nap. The whole time I was sitting in that cell, all I could think was: 'Shit, shit, someone's going to find Calista, and they're going to move her away, and the two hundred dollars I spent bugging her phone are going to be wasted, and I won't be able to plant it back on her in time, and maybe Trevor will also realise, that if his bae doesn't have her phone, someone might've interfered with his too.'" She clicks her tongue. "You made a name for yourself, incidentally. They were texting about you."

"..Huh." Emmanuel exhales back in response, raising a hand to scratch at a sudden empathetic itch on his neck as he listens to Irene, "In this case, hm? I will bring a cocktail of drugs for dinner, instead of the wine next time, oui?" He wryly intones with a quirk of the lips, before his brows raise in mild surprise before settling back down. It's actually not all that surprising that people are talking about him, in hindsight, "Was it being because I ran through their house naked one time?" He asks.

Returning Emmanuel's wry look, Irene answers his question indirectly, tapping at her phone to bring up what appear to be a backlog of texts downloaded from the stolen phone:

[Aug 29 10:31]@TfromToronto: Great song!!
[Aug 31 21:14]Selina: (knights) I got JR. I did not care about Emmanuel.
[Aug 31 21:16]Autumn: (knights) Emmanuel can rot in hell for all I care.
[Aug 31 21:16]Selina: (knights) That was my feeling about it. But I did not see him while I was there.
[Aug 31 21:16]Selina: (knights) You can relay it to Network666.
[Sep 3 08:01]@TfromToronto: That's realy odd!!
[Sep 13 11:52]Declan: Why not too nice?
[Sep 13 11:54]Declan: Fair. Is she spoken for?
[Sep 15 17:13]7108658: New number, Konstantin

"Why were you running through their house naked?" she then prompts.

Emmanuel squints down at the phone, before chuffing out in mild laughter, "Autumn is a very good Order member, non?" He drawls out sarcastically, then flicking his gaze back up and over to Irene at her question. There's a beat, "I was swimming in the sea naked, hm? Someone took my clothes. I was trying to avoid the streets, and ran right on by Trevor in the nudie. He did not like this. Envy, I am supposing."
