In DaveDash Convenience: Checkout Line
The DaveDash Convenience store is a bright, clean, and welcoming space. The air is scented with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods. The shelves are stocked with snacks, drinks, cigarettes, magazines, and various small items like phone chargers and lighters. The walls are decorated with posters and advertisements for products, and a large illuminated sign displaying the shop's name hangs above the entrance. The cash register and lottery machine sit on the counter, manned by a friendly cashier who greets customers as they enter. The store's layout is simple, with a row of refrigerated drinks and snacks along one wall, a row of snacks and candy on the other, and the counter at the back. A small seating area with a couple of tables and chairs is available for customers who want to sit and enjoy their purchases. Overall, DaveDash Convenience is a convenient and cozy place to grab a quick snack or drink on the go.

It is night, about 37F(2C) degrees, and the sky is partly covered by dark grey stormclouds. There is a waxing crescent moon.

For the second time in her life, Gabriella tries to find chocolate in the convenience store, and finds a cursed object instead.

"I was right here!" Gabriella tells Illyana from the other side of the door.

After the 'invitation' is given, Gabriella steps in. "Hi! I'm not intruding on anything, am I?" But that's when Illyana explains what is going on here, and she says "oh... aren't we -always- mixing rituals?" She then eyes Ash and comments, "I'm not sure we've met before? But we do now, so that's cool."

Illyana gestures and a ritual circle of light manifests, glowing from beneath. "I found this easier than making one from fire."

Ash seems tired, yawning, before holding out their hands. From them, will o' wisps start to goal. "You're a student, right? Might have met in class. And are you an arcanist, Gabriella? I can lead or assist, as you like."

Fingers flicking as Illyana makes a sudo-arcane motion, her hands begin to blaze with angelfire, which flickers across her knuckles and dances over her forearms.

"You're..." Gabriella sees a circle of light aglowing, will o' wisps being produced, and she... she is just a girl with a ring. "Maybe in class, yes..." she mutters, and then tells them "you can lead if you want - I'm better at finding curses than at breaking them."

For several seconds the room grows painfully cold.
Ash begins to move anyways, with their other ritual starting. Fingers dip into the will o' wisps like brushes into paint, complete with dripping as they pull back, fingers covered in chromatic light. "I'm an expert, otherwise I would recommend not doing too rituals at once." There's a strong 'Don't do this at home, kids!' vibe from that comment, as Ash starts to paint a secondary magic circle in the air. And while they do so, they start to speak in an ancient tongue, words meaningless, but powerful. They shiver in the cold, but continue firmly.

"Fair warning I'm still not an expert at this." Illyana warns Ash and Gabriella. Palms turning upwards, she begins to focus that flame between her hands, manipulating it into a ball, frowning as she begins to channel energy into it. "Imma bludgeon it." she explains, shivering as the room chills, the fire steaming in the frozen air as she grins to Ash and Gabriella. Yes, bludgeon a cursed object with fire. What could possibly go wrong.

Gabriella fidgets and moves the ring from one to the other, following that by rubbing her hand against her sweater to warm it. "Yana only likes to do rituals in pairs", she lies to Ash, smiling towards Illyana, "and she always manages to get an electric shock or two."

Ash tuts, fingers forming geometric shapes as they draw in the air, pressing arcane runes, sigils, and mystical geometry in the air so quickly, it's practically stamped. And as they speak, incanting their chant quickly, the circle below flickers, energy from all three start to flow into it.

Ash chuckles, drawling back to Gabriella after the circle is fully lit, taking some breaths: "Yana doesn't like doing rituals, period. I bullied her into it."

"Not true." Illyana protests. The ball of fire, at the moment about the size of a beach ball begins to fold in on itself, slowly shrinking, its color shifting from a warm golden white to a burnt orange/red. "Last time I was set on fire, too."

Ash draws one more large rune, and their light spasms, growing like lightning to all corners of the room, then under the doors and through the rest of the building. "Alright, that's one done. Now, I can dance," Ash yawns, not explaining what 'dancing' has to do with anything at all.

The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
Gabriella is in the enviable position of not really needing to do anything - she's able to be in awe with Ash's quick drawings, most of them things she does not recognize, or the strange ball of fire that Illyana connjures and manipulates. She? Gabriella just needs to remain in place, letting her life force flow off, and holding the cursed ring, which she does even when she closes her eyes to try to avoid being blided by the damned ring.

"Also, it was you and Elias." Illyana grumbles to Ash. "And I've done two whole rituals. I set up a shadowwalk for me and Ivy. That came in clutch when the frenchman decided to try to kidnap me yesterday in the nightmare."

As the object generates a blinding light, Illyana gives as good as she gets, vibrating with a strobing incandescence of her own- That demon blood refusing to submit to the external influence of something else- And using the angelic power to give as good as it got.

Ash grumbles as they look exhausted upon the ritual's completion. And yet, they don't even bother trying to take a break. They tell Gabriella, "Thanks, I see your energy offering - that makes it easier." To Illyana, they remind her, "Yeah, I was bullying him, too. And you can't shadowwalk for someone else, remember? I tried to do it for you." As they say this, however, they start to dance. They flow naturally through quick steps, bare feet pattering along the ground, as their hands continue to trail light. They're building a second circle, which floats above Gabriella.

"Oh!" Gabriella exclaims, curious about what Illyana just said, "a shadow walk is that thing where you can decide to... step into a safe place you previously magically prepared, right?" She's really is 'just a student' one that is a bit new to things, apparently.

"Oh good, I wasted two hours of my life..." Illyana frowns again, though the ball of fire steadily shrinks. It's about the size of an apple now and it glows with an infernal crimson radiants that floods the room with the scent of brimstone.

The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
too imits a flash of strobing incandescence right back. It likely does nothing for herself, Ash or Gabriella's vision, but Illyana at least looks smug at this rebellion.

"mmmnh!" Gabriella complains as she scrunches her face with her eyes hard shut, arms extending so the blindingly bright ring is kept in a bigger distance. "I should do one of those things myself!"

"Yes. I realised how useful it was after I was kidnapped for the third or fourth times." Illyana cheerfully explains to Gabriella. Blinking rapidly to clear away the blinding light that flashed out, she continues to condence the light in her hands. It's fighting her, apparently, deminishing in size only gradually.

Perhaps unnoticed, perhaps caught by an acute eye, the dripping light 'paint' had fallen onto Ash's toes. Their feet and careful footwork is building an outer circle around the first one, reinforcing it. They yawn, then drawl lazily to Gabriella, "Right, exactly. Are you one of the Father's ritual students? You're focusing the curse's energy fantastically with your life force, we're almost done." They finish the second and third circles simultaneously, then surge forward into frenetic dance that almost seems too much for the office, their bathrobe flaring out with the spins and bouncing Ash performs in their dance.

She is? She is! Gabriella smiles a bit as she keeps holding the ring, apparently doing a good job at this - who knew! "What Father are you talking about?" she distracts herself enough to ask Ash with curiosity, no longer trying to open her eyes again, certain that the thing will only try to blind her again if she does.

Ash reaches a climax, their passionate energy forcing even their yawning, lazy form to break into a sweat, breath close to panting, as the arcanist pushes themself further than they probably should in their tired, weakened position. But, the last two circles finally complete, and they collapse on the floor, sitting up and huffing. "Alright... you two... take it... away." They lean their head back against the desk eyes closed, satisfied with having set up the framework for the others to pump energy into.

"huh... wait- what?" Gabriella asks Ash, her voice rising, Gabriella now having to do more than what she has been doing right now, and, well, not too sure she's able to. She holds the ring tighter, pries her eyes open, and asks Illyana "you're going to blungeon it now?"

Ash takes time to regain their breath, a taking a few good moments before they explain, "Father Jack is the White Oak Vicar, but he also teaches Philosophy and ritualism. He's brilliant, and a very serious professor. I also teach, but he's been doing it for far longer." They don't answer the rest of Gabriella's questions, letting the others handle it... however.

Fingers moving, the fire is a roiling pea sized thing now that hovers between Illyana's hands. Then, she moves it toward the ring, the small point of heat and energy held between thumb and forefinger as she manipulates it to within the opening of the ring itself. "Oh yeah. I'm gonna burn the curse right on out. Good job the circles are here or it might explode." Helpful, that. Isn't Illyana good at keeping people calm.

With a final burst of power the curse on a silver ring is broken.
