(Irene's bargaining)
[Sat Oct 19 2024]
In Town Hall Northern Meeting Room
It is about 65F(18C) degrees.
With just fifteen minutes to spare for this meeting, Irene makes it into the Town Hall with a glance at her phone, and then looks straight in the direction of representative of Sheriff. There's a look of determination in her eyes as she approaches, some tightness in her jaw, and overall tension in her posture. "Alright, I'll make this quick," she starts her slightly rough, not particularly compelling pitch. "I know you don't have a lot of time, and I don't have a lot of time either. And I know we've already had our little run-ins since I showed up in town two weeks ago, what with Billy Boy calling one of your Deputies on me. But ..."
Irene holds up a finger in front of representative of Sheriff, determined to get all of this out before he gets fed up and leaves or arrests her. "I think I could be useful to you. I think we could be useful to each other. You've already seen how resourceful I can be -- and I think we both know there are way, way worse monsters in this town for you to deal with, way bigger fish to fry, than whatever trouble I've caused you." Taking in a breath through her nose, she tells him, "I'm sorry I trespassed. I'm sorry I wasted police time. I'd like to say I won't do it again. But I think ..." She casts representative of Sheriff a meaningful look. "... I think we can come to a more intelligent, forgiving arrangement, if you're open to it."
"One where ..." Irene takes a step closer, closer towards representative of Sheriff, and reaches out for the collar of his shirt. She gets real close, gives him a little pat, unafraid to flirt. But in reality, her words cut deeper than these physical insinuations she makes, which seem calculated not to truly seduce him, but only to ply and soften him to the prospect of an arrangement. "You look the other way, next time Bill, or someone else calls to complain about me. And maybe I ... Can help deal with some of the monsters you'd prefer not to. The ones you're not ALLOWED to. I know, you have your rules, you're supposed to look away, but doesn't it just rankle you? Doesn't it sometimes get under your skin? Don't you sometimes wish you could just send someone to rough them up, without it coming back to you?" She smiles at him coolly, pats at his collar again. "Mm. Yeah. I think you do. I think you want my number, don't you, Mister? ..."
Irene continues to casually and shamelessly cosy up to representative of Sheriff, like a stripper in a fuzzy and unattractive jumper. She could probably be prettier in some makeup, or if she smiled more. But she's just here to signal interest, flatter the fat cop's ego, plant the seeds of potential for future liaison whilst in truth, giving up very little. She leans against the wall, and passes him her digits, flashing a smile. "Call me," she beseeches. "There is ... actually one more thing I'd like to discuss, if you still have a bit of time. A business I'd like you to look into. I think it might be violating some health and safety regulations. Do you think you could do that for me, just as a token of good faith? So we can start our new arrangement in a more positive way."
Irene leans in to whisper the name of the business in question. representative of Sheriff actually looks fairly scared and unsure of himself all of a sudden; it must belong to one of the more 'untouchables' in town. "Just something to think about," she tells him with a smile. "I know they're a charity. But it might be worth your while, hmm?"
