(Kah's nightmare battle with Berlin)
[Sun Oct 13 2024]
In The Cathedral (beneath The Cauldron)
This space has a striking resemblance to a Cathedral with its high vaulted ceiling, faux stained-glass windows, and stone construction. However, in lieu of pews, the stone floor is barren, providing a space for people to dance to the dark gothic and ambient music that echoes through the chamber, and to mingle. The space is dimly lit and filled with fog, creating a eerie and otherworldly atmosphere. The seating areas are cozy and comfortable, with plush sofas and armchairs upholstered in dark fabrics. There is also a private VIP area for those who want a little extra privacy.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
Pulled into the shadows, Kah glances around with a cold glance. His shield and his spear appear in his grasp. The thick, trunk-like weapon is rattled heavily against the front of his Hoplite shield. The sound is ominous, echoing out through the shadows into the night. "Not what I was expecting, but this will do." Piercing eyes peer through the Nightmare, awaiting a glimpse of his prey.
Tabitha starts to unload a couple of items of thing from her first aid kit, which are not of first aid implements. She peers aside at Berlin, "Thanks for joining this... I am not sure who pulled me... but time will tell shortly." There is a tight smile on her lips.
Berlin offers Tabitha a tight smile, giving her a nod. "We'll find out if me joining was a help or not soon, but I figured it involved you."
Continuing to beat a steady rythym against his sheield, Kah crouches and drops into a battle stance. Boom! Boom! Boom! The spear thunders against the silvered face, the man begins a forward march fearless of what he will find. "Eleleu!" The word is roared out, followed by the wordless melody of a battle-hymn, and the thunder-rattle of that spear.
Unlike the unseen foe on the other side, there is no warcry from them. But Tabitha is preparing other ways. She begins to mold some clay into a shape, softening it, likely, so that when her foes face is seen, she can manipulate it in their very image. "Any help is welcome." She instead picks up her gun, instead of the clay, and fires. However, she may have been best off by poking the clay being in its eyes, Three Stooges style, when it is Kah she aims at.
That steady march forward continues, and as a bullet comes whizzing toward him only to sling past him in a narrow miss. That spear continues to rattle, step by step, by step. He marches toward Berlin first, spying the man as he closes the distance with long, loping strides. Through the slot in the corner of his shield, Kah thrusts forward powerfully at the man seeking to strike him in the center of his chest with enough strength to send the men to his knees. "Death comes." RATTLE! "Death comes!" RATTLE! As he pulls the spear back it's whirled over his head and dropped into a defensive postion across the front of the shield to continue that menacing rattle. "Embrace Death." This is said with almost nothing behind the voice. No feeling, no emotion. Only the march of a warrior moving inexorably forward.
Berlin chuckles in Kah's face, flashing a wild grin for the man. "Thank you," he says, before turning to run lithely away, casting glances over his shoulder to mockingly laugh.
As Berlin promptly retreats, Kah immediately shifts focus to Tabitha who's closer. Stepping forward that rattle continues. "Death comes for us all" he intones at the retreating enemy, before jerking back and jabbing out a quick stab of his spear at the woman. In this moment, there is nothing but the battle-high that gleams in Kah's eyes.
Berlin spins, seeing Kah not following him. He brings up his Sig, squeezing off a round with a loud bark. Its rushed and he's still moving, the sight picture not fully formed.
Tabitha takes a few cautious steps back after she's attempting to block the wicked strike laid out upon her by Kah. "It is true, death comes for us all. But the least we can do is fight back." She points at Kah's handsomely chiseled face to his eyes. And then she clenches her fist.
There's a grunt that comes from behind the shield, and when it slides to the side Kah's eyes are red, the vessels through his eyes blown and bleeding across the sclerea of his eyes. The giant man closes them, and instead he takes a breath in. His head shifts, darting in the direction he scents and it leads him to Tabitha before his spear strikes out again. Rather than respond, that measure of battle is all that exists for the warrior and he is relentless. "Do not fear the Duat. Do not fear the Scales. Death comes for us all!" The chant continues, as that spear delivers its blow.
Berlin steps back a bit more to open his angle to his target. He's lining up the sights as Kah moves to attack, and he hurries his shot. The bark of the pistol echoes out, even in the nightmare, a gout of flame erupting from the muzzle before the bullet adds its sparks to the dim surroundings.
Tabitha is surprised and taken aback, not just because she is struck with a mightly blow by Kah, but that he was able to do so even though she'd caused the vessels in his eyes to bleed. "I ... I don't understand..." And so, istead, she takes stumbling steps backward, and aims her gun at him instead.
While it's true the warrior's eyes are destroyed, countless years of battle instinct or maybe it's their scent he follows but Kah seems undeniable. Again he follows that footsteps of Tabitha, and again a powerful blow comes at her, spear jabbing forward with lethal accuracy. "You doubt me?!" His voice roars out imperious now, thundering along with the blow.
Berlin tries to find an angle where he can hit Kah without hitting Tabitha. His adrenaline is up, his breath coming faster as he squeezes off a third round. The gunshot is followed by the hollow ring of the expended shell casing, the bullet whistling off into the night, chased on its way by the shooter's quiet curse.
"I do not doubt your strength Kah, nor that death comes. It comes for everyone, including you." Tabitha does not back away again after the fierce blow from Kah came. No. She leans into the man instead, and then she jabs the wickedly serrated knife in which she uses so often for her rituals into any soft part of his body that she can, despite that his large shield is such a deterrent for such a thing. "It may not come from me. But it will. Fates tangle our strings, but when undone, so are we."
A booming laugh comes, cold and humorless. "It takes LONG to get here. I have prayed many times!" Another blow comes, fierce and savage at Tabitha aiming right for her heard. She's no docile prey though, and a last minute shift sees the blade slide into the flesh of her shoulder through the mists before she may begin to fade from sight. "I pray still" Kah says to that disappearing face.
Tabitha fades out of the nightmare.
