Patrollogs
(Konstantin's syndicate bargain)
[Sat Sep 7 2024]
In simple prison cell
A simple prison cell with metal bars, a security screen on the northern
wall displaying some sort of meeting room.
It is about 60F(15C) degrees.
Konstantin coems to slowly, blinking a few times. Realising his predicament, he groans aloud. "Fucking Syndicate. This shit again? After we smoothed it out last time? What, do I have to have them capture Tabitha again as apology?"
"Who is it?" Korina questions Nikolai like he knows all the things. He should.
Nikolai says "I did not check, but chances are it's Ash or Konstantin. Not so many normally awake at this time."
Korina doesn't laugh at Konstantin but it's a close thing.
"What," Rachel repeats again.
More and more questions need asking, the longer Nikolai and Korina stand here. "/What/ are you doing?" Rachel asks Konstantin, as if this were his fault.
"You let the Syndicate past you," Nikolai grunts at Rachel as Konstantin is dragged in by a couple of faceless mooks, bound and bleary as the anaesthetics wear off. "Korina and I staged brave rescue."
Yes, it is Korina and Nikolai who are the heroes, and Rachel the villain who let the bad men kidnap her Presiboyfriend. "You are welcome," she says with a flip of hair over her shoulder.
Konstantin looks around, blinking a few times, eyes barely managing to stay open. "Where is.. someone needs to clean the.. " His head lolls back a bit.
Narrowing his eyes, Nikolai interrogates Rachel with a focused glance.
"You did not shit on floor again, did you?" Poor Konstantin.
...Well, Rachel did admonish Korina the last time for refusing to help. This constitutes helping, even if beratement isn't appreciated. "The stupid balcony door," Rachel mutters.
"/What/" Rachel asks Nikolai for the umpteenth time. "/No/. It wasn't even my fault the first time."
"Did someone else break in and shit on floor?" Korina questions with a blink, just so she has the full story.
Konstantin is completely out if it, very evidently. He looks vaguely in Nikolai's direction. "...Raven?" He starts to try and push up to his feet, legs wobbling and feet shifting like he's bambi on ice
"/Accidentally/ shitting yourself is almost worse than having it be your fault in the first place," Nikolai retorts, then guides Konstantin a little towards his nasty, broke, smelly girlfriend. "Go on. Take him to bed. He will need some time for drugs to fade." He doesn't quite address the addled Russian's question - he probably doesn't figure his words will sink in, and he's not one to waste his breath.
"Well, no," Rachel admits. Rachel did in fact shit on the floor. It's just inexplicably not her fault. Why should she be expected to control her bowels?
"Hey, hey, okay--..." Rachel gets under Konstantin's shoulder, in an effort to keep him from tumbling over. "Slow down."
Korina wrinkles up her nose a little bit while she sniffs unsubtly at the air, as though to see if she can pick up any hints of eau de shitte - why she'd /want/ to is a different matter. Probably curiosity. Curiosity did kill the cat.
"Thanks for getting him," Rachel says at the very end. She's grateful. Really. Ideally, the next time it comes without so many insults, but this is a veritable improvement from Korina's refusal to assist at all, the last time.
Konstantin is guided handily by Nikolai. After staring at the man's face for five seconds, he musters the extent of his cognition; "Advisor.. Your cat is outside." Accurate info. A couple of days late. Once handed to Rachel, he wraps his arm around her tightly.
Korina glances back at the door at Konstantin's words, and then shoots Nikolai the most betrayed looks of all time. This look may well go in the top 10 anime betrayals of all time. "You have another cat?" she questions. Her voice doesn't crack on the last word.
"That will be one hundred dollars," Nikolai then says. Does he direct this at the wealthy President? No. He reaches out a hand, palm up, in Rachel's direction. He doesn't blink. "Yes, Korina. We have Asad. Remember?"
Konstantin squints at Nikolai then looks aside at Rachel "You are owing -more- money?"
"...I don't..." Rachel grimaces. "Can I pay you back in a couple of months?" She doesn't say so overtly, but that'd only be necessary if she couldn't pony up. "Shh," she hushes Konstantin, the same way one might a colicky child.
Konstantin rolls his eyes a bit, reaching for his pocket. He misses twice before finally finding his wallet, apparently not taken by the syndicate. They're PROFESSIONALS like that. He passes a few wadded up notes to Rachel
"It's going to take you /months/ to come up with a hundred dollars?" Nikolai snorts, a little incredulous. His hand falls away. "Keep it. Maybe you should learn to clean properly. I could pay you to do weekly service of the house. A little supplemental income, da?" He holds his palm out, seeing Konstantin start to pay, and says, "Keep it. Give back to him, or just keep for yourself, whatever. But... fix situation. Do not be so broke. It is embarrassing."
Konstantin points aside to Rachel after giving her the money, talking about her to Nikolai exasperatedly while relying entirely upon her for even physical support at this point in time. "Wont let me help her. Is silly."
Rachel was in the middle of passing the bills toward Nikolai. If his hand hadn't retracted, she'd probably insist, anyway. Her pride's a sky-high barrier. "It's not like I'm not try--..." There goes Konstantin, interrupting her. "We talked about this," she informs Konstantin. And probably found no clear resolution, if she's still broke. "Don't start." No chance she'd take this kind of tone in public if Konstantin weren't half-present. Hopefully he doesn't remember.
Once Korina is over her betrayal, she now turns to squint at Rachel, glancing to Konstantin and back. "If you let him buy free things, you can spend your money-" Does Rachel even earn money somehow, from somewhere?, "-on steak."
"I get you steak with or without money," Rachel reminds Korina. However Konstantin's memory does or doesn't hold up, she expects Korina's to. Remember yesterday? She didn't need a dime.
Korina pauses. A long, long pause. "... I did not eat steak yesterday." She would remember, forsooth.
Rachel's surely a proud woman. Her pride might be compared to a lavish manson. Nikolai's pride, though, is a fortified castle and estate, patrolled by the finest guardsmen and fucking loaded with cannons. He curls his lip a little, then turns to eye Korina a little. "You let Rachel feed you free steak she did not even pay for?" he asks. His tone suggests that this is Poor behavior.
"It was not steak," Korina informs Nikolai immediately - she's free of guilt, and her hands remain clean and pure.
Konstantin snorts a bit, turning his gaze to the side of Rachel's face with a dirty snicker. "Makes sense. Doing a little bit of butchering lately." He swallows then, smacking his lips with a faint grimace.
"Alright, it wasn't," Rachel admits to Korina. "But close enough." That's a lot more suspicious-sounding than it needs to be. It's not like she fed some horrible mash of mystery meat to to the cat.
"/No/," Rachel says to Konstantin. She almost drops him. She'd probably like to. "I didn't give her /that/."
Korina would've probably eaten /that/ too, if it was fresh enough, let's be real.
This time, when Konstantin whispers to Rachel, Rachel does drop him. He can take his chances with the floor.
Konstantin exhales a self-amused sigh, tilting his head back, and then is dropped. He hits the ground like a sack of spuds, entirely leant on Rachel. "Blyat!", Konstantin calls out. He takes a moment before starting to wobble back up to his feet, having regained atleast a touch of his balance
Korina's heart isn't really into arguing with Rachel today, though, so she doesn't attempt to press the matter too much further. Is that... sisterly camaraderie? Surely not. Instead, she informs Rachel, "Nik told me blyat means whore."
"...I'm not sure that's right," Rachel answers Korina. She's not sure anymore, though. Doubt colors her follow-up. "It's just a normal curse word, isn't it?" The only person who isn't Nikolai who could confirm or deny, she just tossed aside. Feels like she probably won't get an unbiased answer.
Rachel could've totally been more redundant there.
"It does," Nikolai says, defensively, then crouches over Konstantin. He doesn't help the man up, exactly, but rests a hand on his fellow Russian's shoulder, keeping him steady as he gets up under his own power. There's some bro code being upheld, here. "Blyat means whore, but we use it in many ways. Like fuck means to fuck, but you say it when you stub toe or spill wine."
Snorting a bit, reaching out towards Rachel again, seeking out her generous support. "More like fuck", Konstantin weighs in. He then adds, chuckling; "Suka is better word for whore. Very.. -strong- word." He tries it out without a clear target. "-Suuuka-"
Nikolai says "Cyka best translation is bitch, bratan. Cyka blyat - bitch whore. Da?"
Korina's eyebrows lift up at Konstantin's suka'ing and she stares a little at Rachel - is she really going to let him get away with that?! There's no effort made to help Konstantin like Nikolai's doing, notably; instead she just pulls out her phone to text.
