Korinas Syndicate Bargain 240909

(Korina's syndicate bargain)

[Sun Sep 8 2024]

In Town Hall Southern Meeting Room

It is about 60F(15C) degrees.

Ash says "There's no one here."
Ash says "Shall I buy information, and you bid?"
Ash says "Or do you not care who it is?"
Korina stares at the guard who yoinks her money twice and tells her the same piece of information each time. Rude as hell. "If you want it I will leave you to it," she tells Ash with a roll of her eyes - not directed at them. "It's a man. That is all I found out"

Ash sighs, saying, "Mmm... Oh!"

Ash says "It might be Emmanuel?"
Ash says "What do you think?"
"He is in the clinic. I thought clinic had better security," Korina frowns, then shrugs. Not really her problem, but she'll stick around to see who it is.

Ash shrugs, saying, "I thought White Oak had better security overall, but shit happens all the time."

Ash looks Korina over carefully before asking, "How have you been? It feels like it's been a while."

Korina is yawning out a tired breath when Ash's question comes, and she blinks over slowly at them. "... I saw you... yesterday." For approximately 3.7 seconds, but who's counting? Another slow blink, and she states, "Fine."

Ash says "Eh, boring...."
Declan doesn't deny it, looking more harried than worried. "Yep."

Ash says "How did you get caught?"
That's her secret, cap'n, she's always tired. There's a slow, thoughtful hum, and a nod of her head at Ash, and then Korina turns her attention towards Declan. "Oh, this guy." She definitely doesn't remember his name. She doesn't /really/ seem interested, but there's a blink at Declan anyway, along with a sweep of her eyes down and up his form, uncaring of his state of nudity.

Ash says "Who's this guy? I can't remember where I met him or why he matters. Or if he does."
"Usual Syndicate way," mutters Declan, who while not necessarily shy about being undressed, sure doesn't like himself being examined for spare cash .. where's he keeping it?

Ash keeps poking around for a credit card slot in Declan's cyborg implant, coming up empty. "Eh, that's not very informative."

Declan doesn't even have one of those.

Does Ash expect Korina to remember, of all people? No, they do not. She yawns again, not seeming too interested. "How much did you bid? Just make him pay back, get some blood if you want," she tells Ash, not even talking to Declan directly.

Ash says "Alright, banktransfer $500, sounds like a good deal? "
Ash shrugs, saying, "What would I do with a bag of blood? Or should I drag his naked ass to the clinic for it...." They nudge him with their bare toes as they casually chat, before asking, "What would you do with you, Declan?"

"Are you low on spending money? Pass," says Declan, presumably his shitty cell phone going to be used for such a transaction .. were he willing, anyways.

"Nice bath," Korina answers, but maybe she's just talking about her own inclinations. "Maybe some alchemy." Yep, she is. "A shrine or two..." The words trail off when Ash questions Declan, and she wrinkles up her nose before chiding, "Don't ask that. We don't want to know what he does with himself."

Ash laughs, then says, "Damn, I'm really supposed to be doing more of this kind of shit... but I like preparation. Get a whole setup and a plan ready. Coming out of the shower to have a pet stranger is... idunno, a bit boring."

Ash nudges Declan with their feet some more, considering, before saying, "Fine, what about... uh, $300?"

"Yeah, I print out pictures of Korina and..." Declan mutters at Korina's chiding, and the next offer still has him close his eyes and flatly refuse: "Nah."

Korina lets out another yawn, and pushes off the wall she was leaning against to make her way over to the door instead. "You have it handled. I am going--" No, never mind. Declan had to ruin it for himself. She turns around, and walks over before promptly proceeding to backhand the man across the face with supernatural strength. "Try again."

Ash sighs, nudging and pushing Declan, rolling him around with the bottom of their feet before he gets knocked back a bit, which causes them to start laughing. "I thought maybe he's just broke, but he's apparently a dumbass, too, since he knows who you are."

Declan feels like he's ate some of a concussion blast to the face, brains rattled by Korina's blow and his cheek puffing up. He smiles a moment, but at least decides not to print out more draft-quality pictures of Korina. "Hand's the one pressing me for cash."

Ash says "You're already an offering, letting you go is a debt to us. I'm letting you pay that back with cash. I don't think it's that hard. Are you broke? Do you need a payment plan or something? You can just say that, I'm easy."
Ash shrugs before saying, "Dunno why you'd insult Korina, though. Are you a masochist?"

Ash eyes Declan, clearly looking for the birthmark that all masochists must have, or something. Because what other sort of proof do they expect to find on him?

"Just a guy in an inconvenient situation. Harvest me and go. Not interested in coughing up my savings," mutters Declan, laying his head on the ground as he's still recovering from superpowered brainrattle.

Korina gives it a second for Declan to recover from the backhanding, and then leans down and digs her nails into his cheek when she grabs Declan's chin to make him look up at her - the way her eyes stare down at him, ice-hued, she's not even attempting to hide the attempt at hypnotism, though it doesn't really matter here if he doesn't look back up into her eyes. "How about this, yes? You reimburse Ash for their generosity that you weren't thrown in the forest when nobody else came to save you from the Syndicate - or we go leave you in the forest where all the monsters can eat you and lay eggs in you until you die." It's not really a question.
