(Edith's bargaining)
[Sat Apr 19 2025]
In Town Hall Northern Meeting Room
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
Entering, Edith heads to the desk. Nodding to representative of The White Circle, she states, "We have aligned aims, you and we. I would delve deeper into those reasons, though I think this to be an abuse of both of our times."
Lanaeis, Malcolm, Toni." Edith greets Lanaeis, Antoinette and Malcolm in turn. "I see we shall have a bidding war upon us.""
Antoinette offers a smile to Edith and Lanaeis, "I'm just here for the ride as it were. May the highest bidder win."
Malcolm lets himself in with Antoinette, a manila file folder tucked under one arm and a couple easygoing nods for Edith and Lanaeis alike. "Gang." Heading toward representative of The White Circle, he slides the folder across to the rep. "Yeah, that's how they go."
Antoinette tippy taps a few things on her phone, maybe doing some separate but related worked.
Entering just behind Edith, Lanaeis nods politely to Edith. "Doctor Rose." Then, turning to the representative, Lanaeis places a hand lightly on the desk. "Good morning to you. Its a pleasure to have a member of the most virtuous arcane society visit our sleepy little town. I am Lanaeis Mandalis, the stand in leader of Vox Dei. As I'm sure you know, we wish to empower those of Angelic blood, though our leader, Castiel, is of a similar stance to yourself. Were you aware of this?" Lanaeis says with a smile, though there's no telling if his claim is a lie or not. "As a society with fair amounts of combative resources at our disposal, and due to the aligning views of our leader and your faction, I would propose an alliance. It would be easier, would it not, to access more arcane points of interest, if you did not have to worry about the Black Circle claiming them first..." Lanaeis trails off, still smiling. "I do hope we can reach an agreement. Have an excellent day."
Stepping back after delivering his pitch, probably not the best offer, but it will have to do, he smiles at Malcolm. "Good to see you recovered." Lanaeis says, before giving Antoinette a nod. "And good to see you, Toni. How are you both today?"
The lift of Malcolm's eyes flits between Lanaeis and representative of The White Circle, before he supposes, "I imagine your ideals and dealings might fit best with a group that Venice -doesn't- consider corrupt and evil, but to each their own. The Skein'll continue our business with one of your members regardless, but..." Trailing off, he looks to Lanaeis again with an easier smile and reckons, "Oh, hangin' in there. Glad to be outta the hospital myself."
Antoinette smiles to Lanaeis, "I'm doing alright. Glad the storm's over and things can get moving again."
"Oh?" Lanaeis asks, eyebrows raising slightly. "Does Venice truly consider us so evil?" Lanaeis waves a hand. "Well, that does come with the territory of being lead by an Angel I suppose." Shrugging it away like its nothing important, Lanaeis shifts, hands clasping behind his back. "Reputations can get muddled easily, you know. False impressions and all that."
"I had heard that you were wounded in that dreadful storm." Edith notes to Malcolm. Producing another file, Edith steps forward, presenting it to representative of The White Circle. "I also have a second offer for you from another affiliated group I represent. Please look this over at your leasure.""
"Yes, they do," Malcolm chimes flatly back to Lanaeis, lifting his phone. "Venice calls them how they see them, and it's not a matter of reputations. It's a matter of fact. But, tsk, put on your face for the unaware and whatnot, by all means." Another small nod toward Edith, and he reckons, "Almost died. Like, very nearly. Last time I go out during a storm to rescue chucklefucks who couldn't stay inside."
