(Tabitha's decursing attempt)
[Fri Nov 22 2024]
At the Intersection of Ash Street and Sidney Way
It is night, about 44F(6C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. There is a waning crescent moon.
Tabitha says "I've just picked up a ring... I am heading to my home if either of you, or berlin, too, can help."
Tabitha says "As far as what we are getting out of what we are putting in, I have a question to Venice. no guarantees on an answer."
Tabitha says "They are already starting to charge us more every week, it seems."
Tabitha says "It's fine, Yana, Rits and I should be able to handle it. Get better."
Tabitha watches Ritsuka approach from the road, opening up her palm to show off said ring. "Ready?"
It is a very plain looking thing that Tabitha holds. It looks so very mundane, even, in Tabitha's hand. "It is understandable. There are three of us now who hold a bit more power in our hands." So to speak. Figuratively, and right now, literally.
Tabitha says "I am not too concerned with it. We were billed just under four thousand last week. We can make that up if we are dilligent. We are not at a point that Those Seeking Redemption was billed. It was steep. For just me."
"I imagine every one who is tries to keep it a secret, no? But it doesn't really remain so for long." Tabitha says, pulling out the tools of her trade.
"I am sure that people have thought I've been on some dark path for a long time." Tabitha says to Ritsuka. "But I have not. Only so much fighting you can do, no?" Tabitha asks, pinching the ring between her fingers.
"We shall begin," Tabitha says.
Ritsuka makes a nod with her head, again "They always try to, but they can think what they want." She does cut over her own palm, allowing the blood to flow, and offers her hand to Tabitha. "The essence of my life, at your disposal, Tabi."
Tabitha sets the ring back to the center of her open palm and with her selinite blade, she draws blood with a pierce of her flesh in the center of the ring. The blood pools in its little 'cup'. When Ritsuka offers up her own palm, she repeats the piercing, twisting the sharp tip of the blade deep into the flesh to draw the woman's life force. Then, with a nod to the woman, she seeks to clasp her hand in her own, trapping the mundane looking wooden ring between their hands. "Alabaster we beseech you, in your infinite power and glory, to aide us in our spell."
A section of Tabitha's clothing catches fire.
From between the entwined fingers of Ritsuka and Tabitha, the ring begins to glow. Perhaps, though, it is their combined blood that glows. Nay, nay. It is definitely the ring. The glow burns hot, though Tabitha keeps her hand clasped with Ritsuka, despite that some of her cardigan starts to flame at the wrist, where that golden light had touched. With her free hand, she does, at least, try to tamp it out with quick flicks of her wrist.
There is suddenly a fire and Ritsuka tries to pat it out. She does not really possess anything to effectively do it, at least at first - and then retrieves a labcoat from her satchel to attempt and snuff the fire on Tabitha's cloth. The piercing of her palm does not earn much of her reaction anymore, it is accustomed to, and she heals quick enough that it really doesn't matter. "Ohh, Tabi, I think it is your turn today to be on a small fire."
Tabitha jokes with Ritsuka, "I am always on fire. I'm just -that- hot." She flicked her fingers, on the opposite hand, not her wrist, mind, when it comes to trying to put that fire out.
There is a whisper on the wind as Tabitha jokes. A feminine thing. Warm and protective. Just barely heard beneath the wind is: the protector of the graneries listens.
"You are quite pretty," Ritsuka does agree with that, smiling a smaller smile that does still manage to reach her eyes. "Should be careful if someone tried to touch you, could suddenly ignite into a beautiful display none could handle."
For several seconds the room grows painfully hot.
Tabitha sighs, "The price I pay..." She laughs lightly at Ritsuka, then focuses on the ring once more, when the wind grows exceptionally hot. Desert hot. The sweat coalesces on her brow, and she uses a single digit to swipe it away before it gets in her eyes. Those which look upward, to the moon. "I call to you, to Bastet, goddess of the sun, and to Hecate, the goddess of the moon, help to decurse this ring that it does not fall into the wrong hands..." She releases Ritsuka's hand and holds her palm up, so the bloody ring is exposed to the dry air. The blood immediately begins to dry and reveal the runes carved into its wood. Making the runes readable.
The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
Ritsuka withdraws her hand then, her eyes follow Tabitha's motion, though the air had grown incredibly hot. Perhaps fortunate for her, she is lightly dressed in the cold weather, but she cannot help but comment - but has to cover her eyes when the thing suddenly emits a flashing, blinding light. "Tabi, I did mention that. Beautiful explosion, quite hot and blindingly beautiful. Difficult to handle, must feel like a curse sometimes." There is something light at heart to her saying that.
"The weight I bear ..." Tabitha admits to Ritsuka with a half-smile as her free hand goes up to her forehead, and the back of her hand is places against it. Oh, woe is her! Likely, when she's closed her eyes, there are dancing images, thanks to the blindingly white light. The redhead begins to turn the ring about in her fingers, trying to sus out the runes, and if she can decipher the curse engraved upon it. "I've tried to do a lot of study on runic symbols, but there are so many of them. And they are all similar enough that you can easily think it is another word..." She squints at it, her sight returning to normal. "But I think that ...." She mouths out what one symbol may very well be.
For several seconds the room grows painfully cold.
The word from Tabitha was probably not the right one...
Ritsuka feels herself freeze over, and she grasps over her own arms especially "That was a very cool reaction, I guess that means you both are not very attracted to each other anymore." She continues with the lighter hearted banter, it still needing a few more moments before her eyes can refocus. "Or maybe you both don't have a compatible blood type. Maybe it will learn to deliver some flowers before heading out to a date in the future?"
"It didn't even have the decency to be gold." Tabitha says back to Ritsuka, shaking her head. "But, I digress... Let me try this again..." The pretty, hot and cold redhead begins to speak the words of the runes, trying to break said curse when she uses a window to draw out the reverse of what is carved into the wooden ring.
With a final burst of power the curse on a wooden ring is broken.
