In Cell 1
It's too small, too small. It's too quiet, too quiet. It's silent, silent, like the back of your mind as you watched him bleed out. The stillness, when time stopped. Time is still, time does not move here. The padded white walls were always like this, slightly yellowed. It was always moldy. It was always peeling, a little stained. There was always detritus in the corners, because that's where it belonged, with the rats and your sanity. The rusted chains and shackles hanging still from the roof are your only friends. But that flicker flicker of that dim dim dim sun pretender is your enemy. The soiled flat lie-down trap will consume you. Nothing is your friend here, nothing is safe.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
Ash says "Oh, fuck, it's this one. UUUUGGGHHH."
Sam says "Oh, fuck, that's the one I saw in the tea-shop?"
Ash says "We're not keeping her, she's a cop. Gods, why... and why didn't you tell Joel what happened? Left him a note? He was so confused...."
Sam tucks his hands in his belt, looking Valerie over a few moment.s
Sam tucks his hands in his belt, looking Valerie over a few moments.
As Sam stands, he shifts, slightly uncomfortably, eyes on the wall, then the chains. He rubs his eyes.
Valerie quickly slips to her feet, rubbing her wrists as Ash releases the bonds. "I did not have time. I had an emergency happen that required attention. Sheriff's duties," she answers briskly, quickly taking in the interior of the cell, then Sam accompanying Ash.
Ash says "We don't have to wait - Ah."
Sam says, lifting both hands, "Just here to sanitize the cells, once you're done with your stay. Ain't here to judge nuthing."
"I appreciate the kindness you extended to me. I'll keep that in mind," Valerie tells Ash while they are caught up in their text messages, already treading for the door, grimacing as her socks inevitably pick up grime on an unfamiliar floor.
Sam seems very eager NOT to see, hear, or witness nuthing. Ain't none of his business, really.
Ash nods to Valerie, drawling, "Very good, I'll look forward to that mattering."
Ash grimaces
Ash says "No, that came out wrong."
Ash says "I look forward to you remembering? Whatever. Anyways, enjoy your sneak peek at the Haunted House here."
"Intent understood, but your delivery needs working for someone tasked with diplomacy for the Hand," Valerie observes of Ash neutrally. "Excuse me."
Ash says "Shoo. "
Valerie says "Hardly. You built this place like a maze."
