(Caelum's decursing attempt)
[Sun Feb 25 2024]
In the Reception of the White Oak Union
The Union serves as the gateway to the rest of the campus and facilities
therein. Less a building and more the seamless fusion of the two adjacent
structures, the space is styled as a plaza with office space lining both
sides.
The plaza provides space for administrative offices and important communal
areas such as the lunch room, bookstore, and library. It's also home to the
Haven Sheriff's Department, the deputies of which assist with school security
and community outreach when their other duties permit.
Residents otherwise unassociated with the Institute come and go through the
Union, unmolested by security or staff, many on the way to the clinic or
library.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
"Hey." Caelum calls out after his brief visit to the recovery wing - soon enough sliding to a seat beside Viktorin. He lounges near immediately with a weary sigh, and sinks in his seat while crossing his legs.
Tabitha steps in, holding onto a silver necklace she must have found on her way inside. It is nothing much to write home about. A simple silver chain, diamond cut. It looks like it needs a good polish. "Ahh... I think-- Well. Something feels off about this necklace. I thought it might belong to someone here but when I picked it up, there was a flash of light." She looks to Viktorin and Caelum, despite the latter belongs to a certain group. "I might need a little help with this."
Tabitha ticks her chin to the door leading out. "If you care to."
Tabitha is holding onto a necklace, the chain draped daintily over her palm when Alexander walks on up to her. "Outside, though," she suggests, bobbing her brows up at Viktorin. "Hey, want to help me set a curse right?" But he speaks as she does, leading to an "Oh, alright." She nods and turns to step out. "Be back shortly, unless this thing tries to choke me out."
"Ah, well... It seems that the goddess is not listening to me right now..." Tabitha says, as the blood pools in her palm around the chain. She holds onto it, however, letting her blood soak between the diamond cut of the necklace.
"No and yes. You are not an actual arcanist, so my Goddess is refusing to listen to me just yet. I will just need to make my plea louder." Tabitha says to Caelum.
"She better not piss me off," Caelum half-teases, half-puts it out there, in seriousness. He does pull out his phone, briefly, to text something and throw it along back where it came from. Then he's all hands on deck, pacing along to settle opposite from Tabitha. "What do you need?"
Viktorin mulls around unwittingly, watching the proceedings go down. Curiously he asks, "Uh. Who's your goddess? Will they smite me because of my blood or whatever?"
And so, Tabitha begins to chant, loudly, near where devilwood drive meets woods. "Goddess Hecate, hear my plea. I will make this offer to you, in your name. A necklace, cursed with a power of persuasion." She curls her hand around the necklace, balling the jewelry within it so that it becomes somewhat indistinguishable, now covered thickly in her blood. "I call to many, Vik. Earth Mother mostly. Wise and old as she is. But the Virgin Maiden does me suitable too."
Alexander takes a slow deep breath and moves opposite of Tabitha as she begins to work. His effort here comes natural, even working within her practice alien to his own. It's not strictly speaking instinctual but he tends to his part in the ritual without much guidance.
"I need to have you all focus your energies to me. Stand close so that I may use your power to help me reach Her, and to destroy the curse." Tabitha admits, "I want to wear it." Coated in her blood, bright red, and likely a fair bit enticing for the likes of Caelum.
The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
Caelum gives Alexander a sideway long when he butts in to where he is, followed by a brow rising. He gives the man an unreserved bump of his shoulder, and doesn't budge at all from where he is while Tabitha starts to chant loudly. "Stay in your corner, Alex. Get close and I bite." His warning though, comes with a sudden pause when the necklace in Tabitha's grasp flashes a blinding light. Just his luck, too, because his eyes were slowly being drawn to that bright red collection dripping. How could it not? He hisses near instantly, takes a step back and shields himself with his arm. "Fuck, I hate it when they do that-"

Viktorin nods slowly, clearly not understanding much of what Tabitha is saying. He however, does follow her directions and stands closer, closing his eyes. He concentrates, clenching his eyes shut, and knotting his eyebrows, and it very much looks like the man is concentrating -way- too hard. His tongue slips between his parted lips as he continues to concentrate.
Alexander is unaffected, mirrored shades perhaps making it worse for those assisting. He holds steady, "Goddess, hear your faithful servant." He gaze trends towards Caelum. "Please do not threaten a fellow during the ritual, it can cause energies to run wild," he says in a somewhat indifferent ways." He shifts to make room for him and resumes his labor."

Whether it is her goddess or the necklace's curse responding, when Tabitha opens her hand to reveal the jewelry covered in her lifeforce, it flashes with a blinding light, causing Tabitha to close her eyes and to redouble her efforts. "I hear you, Goddess." She reopens her eyes to relay to Caelum, Viktorin and Alexander. "She is here." She. Is probably not. But the redhead drops down to her knees onto the grass, hardened by winter and sets the necklace down onto it. With her blood, she begins to draw a circle around the item. She peers up at Caelum a moment, a look of knowing etched on her features. "Now is not the time," she mirrors Alexander. She motions to Viktorin to sit. "I admit, I don't know what your blood is. And I have no control over what she may or may not do."
"I'll make you eat that fucking necklace if you speak to me again." Caelum warns with a little more heat at Alexander's reply, all while rubbing his eyes with the hell of both hands, which, really, underminees the severity of his threat. When his eyes are more adjusted, he sighs, steps ahead. Whatever he can do to help, he kneels on the opposite side of Tabitha to leave Viktorin to observe and Alexander to chant his own -- and in the process of the circle being made with her blood, he offers his own hand, palm open, to Tabitha. "Here, potent, he called it, right?"
The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
Alexander nods to Tabitha softly. Perhaps he knows she is wrong? Perhaps he is entirely indifferent to the truth of the matter. "Good work," he praises her either way. He nods to Caelum wordlessly and gazes back, allowing himself a bit of a shiteating smirk at the second flash of light. He'd offer the man his glasses but, well, his request was clear.
Viktorin drops down and sits, with his legs crossed, barely noticing Tabitha's motions for him to seat himself. Obediently, he plops down, crossing his legs. He's still unsure, and he closes his eyes once more, clenching them shut. Murmuring aloud, he mutters, "Uh... Great Goddess, please uh... help us?" It's not very well-thought out, but it seems the best he can do at the moment, paired with his serious concentration upon whatever it is he's concentrating on.
"Do not mock me, Alex." Tabitha says, for the praise, taken the wrong way, perhaps. She takes hold of Caelum's hand, letting his energy flow through her via that touch. "Blood," she says, blinded again by that horrible flash from the necklace, this time her face much closer to leave the stars and fireworks behind her eyes, as she's leaned in to draw the symbols that are known by those who worship Hecate and other neo-pagan Goddesses. "It will help more should you offer your own blood to the ritual. The properties are far stronger than some would admit, holding that power and information for themselves."
Cautious, this time, Caelum tilts his head away as soon as that light begins to grow from between himself and Tabitha, from the necklace laid out on the circle in the middle. It still makes him clench his teeth, sensitive eyes disturbed, keenly yellow in the spare moment that he casts them away with the brush of light, but they're shut, for a moment. A moment where Tabitha brings her hand to hold his own. The light stupifying light shaken off, he reaches out with his other, to lead her dagger to his palm and presses her wrist to make a clean cut that wells up the near-black of his blood to slowly drip as if tar onto the circle, spread within its grooves with the magic that takes a hold of it.
An arc of lightning blasts out of the artifact to strike Alexander, sending him flying.
Alexander raises a brow. "Is there something in the air today? Emotions appear to be running hot," he muses. "I was being sincere." He doesn't bother going any further into it. He shifts back a bit, not wishing to perhaps expose himself to the wild energies...only to be struck by lightning and thrown backwards.
Viktorin blinks his eyes wide open, and watches Alexander get zapped something fierce. Wildly, he looks between the man, Caelum, and Tabitha, before closing his eyes and returning to concentrating, fearfully so. His lips twist and his jaw clenches as he continues to ruminate and ponder.
Non-believers get what they get and Alexander is suddenly struck by an arc of lightening. Revealing, perhaps, that She is actually here. Power does, afterall, come from somewhere. Tabitha purses her lips as the drawing of Hecate's symbol is completed, just as that arc happens, a heat seeking missile. "It is possible. It has been an odd few days, and I've been muddied with emotions," she does admit to the man, as well as Caelum and Viktorin. There is something that flashes in her eyes, it may be the mingling of her blood with the vampire's own. It may very well be that her open sore lets his own seep into her system.
After that arc of lightning licks the air over Caelum's shoulder and leaps at Alexander, Caelum cannot possibly contain that fanged grin. It's only icing on the cake that it happened after his blood touched the circle -- but he makes no comment of it, only keeps his perfect dentistry in display, with all the fangs it would entail put out brazenly. "You liked the taste that much?" He nearly coos at the necklace, and squeezes his hand more as if to coax another lightning out of the cursed thing. Then he spares Tabitha a look, like a cat that spilled the milk, and entirely liked it - meeting that flash of her eyes with his own.
Growing air pressure makes your ear's pop uncomfortably and deadens all sound.
Alexander lets out a hiss, he does his work to deflect the errant force but there's no denying that it hurts. "Extract your price, oh Goddess. Feed of my suffering. I know the price, I pay it gladly," he intones, doing his best to maintain his composure as he moves back into position. He gazes down at the blood, and then at Tabitha perhaps a knowing gaze.
Tabitha shouts in Viktorin's face, unintentionally, "What?"
Caelum seems like he might be the only one having fun out of this, because he laughs, loudly when Tabitha shouts n Viktorin's face - but sadly still inaudibly with the deadend sound. The air presure, or any pain that may come from it or any other thing rather, seems like an absent thing in the two-legged parasite.
"Yes," Tabitha shouts, "Add your blood so that I can set our blood alight and break the curse." She rubs a thumb at once ear, trying to get it to return proper sound.
Viktorin cringes from the shouting, helplessly covering his own ears, wincing all the while. He shouts back towards Tabitha, "Take my blood too!" His eyes open, and with some level of unsure bravery, he flings his hand forward, firmly pressing his right hand to the blade within Tabitha's grasp, before immediately grasping and dragging his hand downward, hissing at the clearly at the pain. With force, he adds his own normal looking demigod blood to the mix...
Alexander gazes at the trio with a bit of a...distant expression. Perhaps disapproving?
With a final burst of power the curse on a silver necklace is broken.
