In the modern, airy apartment that served as the scene of an unusual encounter, Evan found himself face-to-face with a creature that was far from ordinary. On a storm-clouded afternoon, this entity, taking on the guise of a woman with glasses reflecting an ominous red light, approached Evan with a mixture of flattery and foreboding propositions. She spoke of Evan's loneliness, his bravery, and how undeserved he was of his solitude, prowling around him with the intent of a predator sizing up its prey.
Despite the creature's tempting words, highlighting Evan's alleged desire for greater strength and appeal, he met her advances with skepticism and laughter. He maintained his stance, mentioning a girlfriend and dismissing the creature's flattery. The entity, undeterred, pressed on, unveiling her true motive—she sought Evan's partnership. She promised him power beyond his current standing, a way to avoid the pain of abandonment and the insecurity of being perceived as a fraud.
Evan, visibly torn by the proposition, exhibited a moment of vulnerability before firmly rejecting the creature's offer. Asserting his refusal to assist her, he demanded she leave his sanctuary. This decision visibly irked the creature, revealing her malicious intentions. She threatened Evan with future compliance before dissolving into shadows, leaving no trace behind except the shaken resolve of a man who had just faced a daunting test of character. Evan, left alone in the echoing silence of his apartment, grappling with the aftermath of this supernatural confrontation, found himself at a crossroads of courage and temptation. This encounter not only challenged his convictions but also underscored the presence of unknown, powerful forces vying for control in a world that teetered on the edge of unseen battles.

In the contemporary, central, spacious living area of the apartment
The living area is a spacious, modern hub with polished concrete floors and
large western-facing windows that fill the space with light. A sleek, L-shaped
gray sectional faces a wall-mounted TV on the northern wall, with a minimalist
glass coffee table and geometric rug anchoring the seating area. The open-plan
includes a kitchen to the east. The main apartment entrance is angled to the
southeast, marked by a simple frameless door, while a hallway to the southwest
leads to the master bedroom. To the northeast, a door opens into the home gym
and dojo, and the guest bedroom is in the northwest. To the south is a door
to the bathroom. The walls are a warm orange tone with modern art, creating an
airy, functional atmosphere that balances style and comfort.
It is afternoon, about 62F(16C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.
The creature chuckled softly at Evan. "Come on, look at me, I'm not here to hurt you." She reassures Evan. "I just wanted to talk." She takes a few steps over, the weight felt with every step, her gaze - even through the glasses, feels intense... The glasses were reflecting a bit more of a red light than they are supposed to be, still a few paces away, the woman starts to talk proper. "I need a brave man like you though, I mean, you aren't scared at all." She purrs, looking him up and down. "Don't you think you... Deserve to be seen as something more, because of that bravery? Yet you know - I can't help but notice, you seem to be awfully lonely here." She lifts her shoulders in a shrug, pointing once again at the empty room, save for them two.
"Why is that so, can you tell me? Surely everyone would want to be with someone as cool, strong, and brave as you are..." With every comment, she circled the man, like a predator circling it's prey. "Surely you deserve more, mh? Dontcha think so?"
Evan cocks his head at her, and snorts, unable to keep himself from laughing. It's probably stupid considering what town he's in and who he's probably dealing with. "Look," he tells her. "You're going to have to try a lot harder than that," he admits. Lifting his hands, he gestures around, "My girlfriend isn't home from cheer practice yet," he explains. "So, whatever it is you're trying to sell, isn't really going to work. But, you know, you're welcome to talk I guess?" He gestures to some of the empty sofa, indicating a spot that looks to have been marked with muddy pawprints from an animal of some sort.
Laughter is met with a grin from the creature, as she listens to Evan. "Oh come on." It's almost childish. "I have watched you closely for a long time, Evan - I'm a fan, honestly." She brings both of the claws close to her chest. "...And I know you're great, but I hate this... Thing on you- that mask." The woman rubs her own face with the claws. "You are better than that, pretending to be so cool, the bravado, beneath that you're scared - but you could be greater!... All I'm offering- and hear me out on this... I'm just offering you a way to get better... You could-... Expedite your progress, get stronger... Better. Wouldn't that be great?"
"You won't ever need to worry about not being enough, because you will ALWAYS be enough, of impossible strength, of mountain-like stamina... And so handsome no girl would ever resist you! The peak of the prowess for your bloodline!"
There's a mask and it breaks for the briefest of moments at hearing those words. Evan tenses slightly, it's probably not noticeable to most people, but it's there. The briefest tensing of his entire body.
And a second or two later, he exhales - uncoiling that tightness. "I'm not," he says, though there's a noticeably distinct lack of full on cockiness there. "What am I scared of?" he tells her, looking over at her - eyes narrowing slightly. "I don't need.." pause, thinking, "need to be that much better."
Wicked clawed creature that stood in front of him was clearly not the most average person, if it could be considered that, noticing the briefest moment of weakness, a step closer is taken. "Yes... Yes... Think about it." She rolls the words off her tongue, like a snake. "You're scared of people thinking you're not as good as you claim to be... Scared of being nothing more but a faker, pretending to be someone great." That stare of her's - pierced right down to his soul, it is no doubt she has been watching him for a long time, long enough to gather all the data she needed.
"And once all people learn that, they start leaving you- refusing to hang out with you, one by one... You'll be all ALONE. And that hurts, that feeling, doesn't it?"
"But if you're so strong that there will be no question about your prowess, then there will be no fear of abandonment, there will be no fakeness, only true might. That which you could PROVE to others if they dare to question it." The gaze narrows. "You do need it, Evan."
Evan blinks, shaking his head. His eyes roam the figure in front of him, like he's trying to figure out if this is really real or not. His mouth opens, then shuts, an obvious turmoil inside of him - working to figure it out.
He goes quiet for what's probably a long time, but it's not all that long in theory. It's more like he seems to be moving in slow motion, with the rest of the world passing him by. "If," he says then, "I were to take this, what would I need to do?" he asks, softly.
Demoness lifts her hand. "Just a small deal." She explains to Evan. "You see, my influence is really bad on this world, I'm so-so under equipped to handle it. But then there's you; so knowledgable, so smart, so strong; soon to be even more stronger. You could help out someone in distress, yes?" She chuckles softly. "You could help ME out! I'm going to be helping so many people out, there's so many that have GREAT ambitions, but they don't have the power to back it up... Oh! How horrible it all is, to be restrained by your own existence and genetics..." She wails with a purr to her words.
"But together we could start making people better, better versions of themselves... We could give them the power they need to achieve things in life that they so desperately want." A soft giggle escapes her as another step is taken, reaching out to gently caress Evan 's shoulder. "What do you say? Evan? You and me, and the rest that follow in our steps..."
Something in Evan reacts to that attempted touch, and he shifts along the sofa. Inhaling, exhaling. "No," he states firmly, getting control of his thoughts and his emotions - tucking them aside. "I'm not going to help you." If one could read the inner parts of him, they'd know he's warring with himself but the rational part of his brain won out. "Get out."
seems to be greatly angered by Evan's reaction, the claws are reeled back - but... Even just the intent of attacking would violate the sanctuary, so the creature is forced to hang in that pose. "...How sad." She sighs. "I'm sure, very so sure you'll come around." The woman tells him, not hiding any viciousness in her tone. Showing her true colors (as if looking like a monster in a business suit didn't do that enough).
The woman takes a few steps back, and starts to melt into pure shadow-like goo, it isn't soon that she escapes completely, leaving Evan with no trace of her having ever been there in the first place.
Maybe, that's for the better.
When that monster, business suit lady leaves, Evan slumps back onto the sofa, hands shaking just a tad.
