There seemed a fair few more people in favor of this than opposed so going to be launching H5-Redux next thursday the 24th, probably around midday EST. More details about what systems have been updated/altered etc in the next day or two.

DreamI don’t know what I may have missed. This doesn’t really strike me as some majority. We also still haven’t gotten an Announcement post in-game for those who don’t/can’t check the forums.
Hi! I’m not looking for anyone to champion my opinion, but since we’re here, I’m hugely interested in the redux idea. Just so we’re all clear.
Also not looking for any banter, and I’m a bit late to post, but I’m all for the redux idea as well, and am looking forward to it, as well as the announcements about any code change.
That wasn’t my intent, if it came across like that, apologies Diego 🙂 If we had a poll, it’d be a lot clearer to gage where people actually sit. I’m still just a bit befuddled how we came to a majority, and how out-of-nowhere this kind of came for those of us still playing. From actively continuing to play, stabilizing the Legion incursion, etc., to a post inquiring about the idea of a reboot/redux, and then a one-week end-of-life notice that hasn’t even been made public in-game yet.
Ultimately, Haven’s existence isn’t a democracy. Nova is going to do what Nova wants to do, even if there is no majority.
That said, I know of 4 people (including myself) who are coming back BECAUSE of Haven 5 Redux. (I would prefer an even earlier version, but I don’t think Nova has those. Alas.) I realize you guys are having fun with your RP, but when you look at the calendar and the chronicle, it really doesn’t APPEAR like anything is going on, which makes it undesirable to rejoin it at the stage it’s in.
When there’s only a handful or two of people actively playing, the game is functionally dead and not going to really have new players coming back to it to freshen it up. It’s always been better when the game has had its player wipe. Does it suck to lose characters? Yes, absolutely, but power creep is a thing, and refreshing the game draws in people who want to start again and see where it goes.
I’m biased; I’ve been through 5-6 player wipes and am ambivalent to them now, and also love earlier versions of Haven when it was still horror-focused and not quite as action-y. That said, isn’t it generally better when there are more people to play with than fewer?
Just my two cents.
Let’s not.
My impression of Nova’s post in the discussion was that the h5 redux was his preference he was already leaning to before asking. There is nothing to win here trying to say that it is not the general leaning preferences of people who were actually still playing. The decision was already made.
For what it’s worth, a Redux of 5 and the small-town Grid would be interesting.
I can’t say if it would be enough on its own to see me poke my head in. To someone else’s comment I read elsewhere (credit to whomever that was my apologies) the true issues with earlier Iterations wasn’t so much the grid or the code so I don’t know if the potential stress / headache / toxicity is gonna be worth the squeeze.
Respect and best wishes for those who do, though!
For what it’s worth, my vote was also on the ‘no’ side but I hope everyone has fantastic fun with it.
Whether I’ll play will largely depend on what mechanics exist this time I think.
