Spoke to two players that were new to Haven and they both found information regarding combat lacking. After examining the helpfiles, which mention nothing of two particular things, I am mentioning them here.
Defensive caps. Your cap is 1*Tier.
T1 = 100
T2 = 200
T3 = 300
T4 = 400
T5 = 500Any points above only count for about 20% So a T1 with 40 points in a defense stats, should have 120HP.
I might be wrong on the percentage, I believe it was 20% but it could also been 25%. Havn’t looked at it in too long.Armor
Armor sets your damage cap per round. Shifters do not have a cap.
Using heavy armor should give you a damage cap of 65. This means that, unless you are dealing with a complete monster, any damage above 65 is drastically reduced.Heavy armor is large sized armor, to be worn over clothes. Light armor/small sized armor is thought of to be worn under clothes, from what I recall, it provides a higher damage cap than large sized armor does. That means you can take more damage per round.
There seem to be some strangeness with damage per round caps. Buffed attacks can still hit above your damage cap. Mobs may also still be able to hit above it. It does reduce damage taken by other players, but may not work as one would expect.
Armor can also receive advanced augments which reduce damage taken by 20%, but this is expensive but very helpful when it takes 5 damage from each attack and that means you can take another few in total.
Mist Hunting
For beginner, always stick to the ankle-height area.
You can kill a rat/anything, if you butcher it and no one is nearby, nothing will spawn. If you are recovering HP, nothing will spawn. If you are in a party, if the one everyone is following is the leader and the leader is butchering, nothing will spawn.Use the weather command towards the end of a butcher process and look to make sure you are still in ankle hight. The mist moves.
T1 can reasonably hunt in ankle high mist. T2 can reasonably do waist high. T3 can at the outer most of wreathed. This is varied and depends on build and details. Some specialized T2 and T3 can hunt in deep wreathed. The spawn patterns depend on the layer ouf the mist you are in and wreathed can be different per room.It is recommended to be careful right now, mist capture can mean character death if you do not escape, so it is better to be safe than dead. Mist capture happens when mist monster defeat you. They will drag you to a random location, if you are shifted, you will be really hard to find. Mobs will spawn into overwhelming numbers on you the more time passes.
The items can be contributed at a society/faction HQ as per ‘base list’ ingame. You may need to guess which one is yours. The item can be contributed in the same room as faction items can be purchased at. Look for where the grenades are sold and you will have found it.
