in reply to: Scales and Degrees #27681
All memory removal stuff is event specific, so shouldn’t be used on things which are over several days. Fatecrafting could cover that since it re-writes a whole life but as has been pointed out by others all these are reversable or figure-out-able.
in reply to: Invitation Misc Questions #27680That’s fine, someone’s invitation level is easy to spot so it’s not like you’re uncovering some big secret.
I don’t think someone could use bedwindow to rescue someone? It doesn’t take you to the PC it takes you to their bedroom. I’d probably change stuff if any invitation command was being used to save people instead of be mean to them though.
in reply to: Lore questions; Dreamscapes and more #27679Wildling is a sort of catch-all language for the wilds and other worlds, I’d think of it like a common tongue but different regions will still have their own dialects or use languages from Earth regions.
I suppose a dreamchild could have become a god or fae or something if they were created long enough ago, there could be higher powers with more connection to the dreamscape but there are none with unique powers over it, no they can’t manifest things from the dreamscape. Even dreamchildren aren’t manifested directly, they’re always born as humans.
Just represents some sort of history/familiarty with magic that can be used to gain access to supernautral powers.
I think it’d be fine to RP a mute as being able to use rituals and just doing it some other way.
Mist monsters are all created by some higher power through some act of fleshforming at some point, they don’t talk to PCs and do not seem to be sentient although as pointed out they do use tools, that’s what people know about them.
You could RP a purity bargain as some self meditative thing or as some deal with something where you trade power for purity.
Invitation is useful but more pronounced in Haven, just living in Haven is to some degree an invitation to the supernatural. Charon coins are Haven specific but there are other unspecified means of resurrection around. You don’t gain invitation from just being near someone so no…
Monstrous beasts are not valid as mounts, or for that matter futuristic technology like hoverbikes. That would be RPing your character having an ability(unicorn taming) they have no coded support for.
in reply to: Monster passive damage #27678After they’ve done a certain amount which is basically the same as after a certain number of hours. Yes they’ll be notified.
in reply to: Fabled Infidelity #27677It’s for the drama/entertainment value. Bella is in a relationship with Edward but finds Jacob really hot etc. The main reason for fabled to be monogamous is because it makes for story/drama if they find someone else attractive as opposed to a poly person who could just bone the other person and who cares.
in reply to: That is beyond your ken. #27676Yes they can’t do any rituals.
in reply to: Relationships and Invitation #27675No, no coded effect.
in reply to: Fabled quest bonuses #27674It triples the LF benefit you’d get from biting them, but if you were already capped or the benefit was 0 because they were low lifeforce then that could still lead to gaining nothing.
in reply to: Repeat Bites #27673Yes there’s a penalty for biting the same person, ICly that would be rationalised similar to why eating just one type of food is less healthy. Other reductions could come from someone already having low life force and also tier ones don’t give as much.
in reply to: Questions on Invitation #27672There’s no cooldown on bargain purity but it is less effective each time you use it.
No there’s no chance it fails, it will always reduce invitation even if it doesn’t do so by enough to take you down a rank.
No there’s no cap.
It depends greatly on the type of scene, tier difference etc, and going up invitation takes more the higher the rank you are. In general I guess 1 a week would be about expected for people RPing a reasonable amount with higher tiers in fairly corrupting ways.in reply to: Fabled – Is the topic socially shareable? #25290Fabled are an IC concept that people know about, I do think it’s usually better writing to not overuse the term though. I think probably the bigger issue is more the knowing specifically how a monster is going to interact with them since that’s a lot fuzzier. There’s no real specific lore reason why monsters want fabled, that’s more OOC. So it would be a lot more appropriate to RP about how you think maybe offering the monster Bob as a sacrifice might make it go away instead of being like well Bob is a fabled and one of two ways to get rid of monsters is giving them a fabled etc.
in reply to: Is Story Death dead? #25271Resurrection is unreliable, gets more expensive each time, and the death is still often traumatic and leaves lasting damage on someone’s mind/memories etc. So I’d say if people were RPing that the risk of death doesn’t matter they are being fairly silly.
It is both bad to RP that someone cannot die in situations where IC death seems reasonable but is codedly impossible, and bad to try to force someone to be dead outside of the mechanics of the game that govern death.
This is also true in other forms of story telling where you may not be able to actually kill off the main character without tanking your tv show but still want a story where they seem in peril.
I’m not sure I entirely understand the question but that’s my best effort to respond to it.
in reply to: Monster Morality & Evil #25261Monsters damaging a borough represents the negative impacts on the local area of there being a monster running around in it.
I would say a monster RPing that they’re doing absolutely nothing negative would be very inappropriate for that reason, also even if that code wasn’t there that would be super shitty RP.
It should always be morally good to kill a monster or otherwise drive it off, beyond that it’s pretty flexible how people want to RP them.
in reply to: Invitation and you #25251You can RP that the principle of invitation is something you know about ICly.
Obviously, those actual examples would be terrible RP like any other sort of super literal RPing about mechanics.
in reply to: T2s and Minions #25250No minion power is capped by Tier. A reminder that anything which makes you more powerful, like just making your minion do more damage, is going to be capped by Tier because that’s what tier is for. If you find a thing that makes you stronger that isn’t capped by Tier it probably will be in the future.
